Investigator III (Nursing Investigator) Job at State of South Carolina

Under general supervision, conducts investigations of professional licensees for the Board of Nursing at the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation according to applicable statutes and regulations following the agency's established guidelines. As part of the investigative process, drafts subpoenas for relevant documents and interviews witnesses. Works with various officials and agencies on the local, state, and federal level.

Prepares written reports detailing findings of investigations. Maintains updated case files for all investigations. Attends and presents case findings to the Investigative Review Committee (IRC). Works closely with Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) to receive advice regarding legal issues or questions about sufficiency of evidence. Enters all investigative activity taken into the Regulatory Licensing and Enforcement System (ReLaes).

Serves as a witness in board disciplinary hearings, Memorandum of Agreement hearings, and other hearings as required. Attends other meetings and training as required. Performs other duties as required.

State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and experience conducting investigations or performing other law enforcement duties. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required work experience.

Must have a valid driver's license and 10 year MVR that complies with State and Agency Fleet guidelines. May require extended periods of driving, sitting, and visiting facilities that are non-ADA complaint. May need to bend, stoop, kneel and lift up to 50 lbs.
