Title: IT AssistantClassification: Grade 3- $18.72-$24.34 per hourReports to: Director of Information TechnologyFLSA Status: Non- ExemptEffective Date: Union Status: N/ASummaryPerforms a variety of tasks that enhance and support the use of Technology including technical support, troubleshooting and performing device maintenance and software updates. Performs all other work as required.Essential Functions(The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)?Provides Help Desk Support. Addresses staff and student computer/technology related issues.

Responds to staff regarding technology requests. Resets student and staff passwords when necessary.?Responsible for a variety of technology projects. Installs new software on student and staff devices. Updates operating system and applications to improve device function.

Sets up devices for use by new and existing staff and students.?Conducts research and documentation. Studies ways to improve inventory management, security, and hardware. Documents and keeps track of student and staff devices. Records damages/losses of any district-owned technology.?Provides audio/visual technology setup.

Collaborates with Facilities to fulfill any technology needs for events. Monitors solutions during staff meetings in case of malfunction.?Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma plus one year of school in a post high school level Information Technology, or related degree program; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Ability, SkillKnowledge: Working knowledge of several operating systems. General office knowledge, working knowledge of the departmental operations.Ability: Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff and students.

Ability to work independently and with others in a wide variety of circumstances. Ability to use technology. Ability to interact with users of the system and work through complaints.Skills: Excellent skills of observation and listening skills. Proficiency in a variety of software.

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Skill to work independently and with others. Excellent technology skills.Supervision Received: Works under the direction of the Director of Information Technology.Exercised: None.Responsibility: Performs varied and highly responsible duties requiring a thorough knowledge of departmental operations and the exercise of considerable judgment and initiative, particularly in situations not clearly defined by precedent or established procedures.Job Environment?Work is performed under typical office conditions; work environment is moderately noisy.?Operates computer, printer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine, and other standard office equipment.?Contacts are by phone, through correspondence, and in person; they generally consist of an information exchange dialogue, discussing routine and semi-complex issues.?Makes frequent contact with school department staff and students.?Employee has access to departmental confidential information.?Errors could result in delay of department services and have legal and/or financial repercussions.Physical Requirements(The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
