The VP – Operations is a key role at the YMCA of Columbia, directing the flagship Jeep Rogers Family Branch, and overseeing the final stages of developing the Kershaw County Family Branch. Under the direct supervision of the CEO, the VP-Operations is responsible for all branch decision-making and operations including membership, program services, financial development, community engagement, business operations, facility management, and employee development, all in accordance with the association’s policies.
The Jeep Rogers Family YMCA, constructed in 2007 in Northeast Columbia’s desirable Lake Carolina “Live, Work, Play” community, is a 55,000 square foot facility with state of the art wellness equipment, cycling and group exercise studios, functional training space, 25-meter indoor pool, gymnasium with an indoor track, tennis courts, sports fields, and multiple youth programming spaces, including both indoor and outdoor playgrounds. The branch has 3000 membership units, a $3.3M operating budget, and an $65K annual campaign.
Construction will begin in winter 2023 on a 45,000 sq.ft. branch in Kershaw County, SC, idyllically located in the area known for its “History, Horses, and Hospitality.”
The YMCA of Columbia currently includes five facility branches, serving Richland, Kershaw, Lexington, Calhoun, and Orangeburg counties in South Carolina.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Directs the Jeep Rogers Family Branch and oversees the startup of the Kershaw County Branch to assure sound operations. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
Leads and supervises all facility development/property maintenance, repair and overall upkeep for the assigned branches to meet the needs of current and potential members and the Y’s safety, service, and security objectives.
Coordinates the development of branch advisory boards and committees. Directs and oversees the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the two branches.
Develops, manages, and monitors operating budgets and meets or exceeds budget targets.
Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, and collaborations.
Ensures high performance and success of annual contributions goals and participates in major capital initiatives.
Oversees the selection, training, and supervision of branch staff and volunteers.
Identifies potential areas for programming to accomplish YMCA goals, and works with staff groups to develop and implement programs.
Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads branch staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities.
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in human services, business, or social services, or equivalent successful experience
Five or more years of professional experience in the YMCA or another nonprofit preferred.
Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, successful membership practices, quality program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management and sound financial practices.
Understanding of the mission and cause of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.
Ability to handle multiple demands and priorities and achieve organizational objectives
YMCA Multi-Team or Organizational Leader certification preferred.
Salary Range: $110,000 – $120,000
