Hourly Rate: $25.19, Annual Rate: $52,402.48 Effective as of: 08-16-2022
**Annual salary noted above is based on an 8 hour day and full days worked calendar. Any position that is less than a full FTE/8 hours per day or late start will be prorated accordingly.
Certain Education Support Professional (ESP) jobs may include the value of holiday pay into the hourly rate. Review the Holiday in Rate column of the Education Support Professional Job Title, Wage Plan, Grade document.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Perform journey level skilled functions in the installation, maintenance, and repair of built-up, modified, E.D.P.M., standing seam metal, thermoplastics, and shingle roofing systems at District facilities.
Lead a repair team as assigned.
Assist in the training of entry level workers and District seasonal employees.
Perform skilled functions in carpentry, sheet metal, and plumbing.
Collaborate with other trades and outside contractors.
Inspect roofs and provide condition report to Structural Group Leader and Roofing Specialist.
Maintain and repair personal and District tools and equipment.
Acquire materials for projects and maintain adequate bench stock levels of specialized materials.
Provide expertise and assistance in interpreting and comprehending specifications, manuals, diagrams and blueprints to work teams, school staff, project design and construction staff.
Participate in training sessions to receive updates on proper trade methods and new materials.
Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma/GED required, plus courses at the Roofing Industry Educational Institute or manufacturers' schools. Asbestos training (16 hours) required within 2 months after hire.
EXPERIENCE: 5 years combined experience in several types of roofing, including E.D.P.M., shingles, modified, and thermal plastics.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT: Basic communication and writing skills. Extensive knowledge in a wide variety of roofing systems and their application and repair. Ability to read blueprints and work flexible shifts. Operating knowledge of and experience with torches, hoists, and man lifts. Operating knowledge of dump trucks and boom trucks required within 1 year after hire. Must pass written knowledge and practical tests prior to hire.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: Valid Colorado driver's license.
SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY: Assists with training and oversees the proper application of materials (codes) of 2-4 entry level workers and/or seasonal workers in the field. Spends less than 50% of time conducting supervisory responsibilities. Acts as a technical resource for other trades technicians by providing assistance when their activities involve penetration of a roofing system.
CONTACTS: Daily contact with persons in same work unit/building to furnish or obtain information, and with persons outside department/building to provide a service. Monthly contact with vendors/suppliers to furnish or obtain information. Annual contact with applicants to furnish or obtain information.
SAFETY TO SELF AND OTHERS: High exposure to self to bruises, cuts, and fractured bones due to falling and using equipment and tools; to hernia due to lifting heavy items; and to repetitive motion injuries due to shingling, mopping tar, and lifting. Medium exposure to chemical burns due to working with chemicals and solvents, to heat burns due to propane torches, tar, and heat guns; to loss of limb due to equipment and falls; and to loss of sight, disfigurement, and fatality due to chemicals, hot tar, tools, and/or automobile accidents. Also, duties of this job may impact the safety of others if precautions are not taken when working where others are present and/or if work does not meet specifications or codes for safety.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
MENTAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to evaluate. The employee is occasionally required to compare, analyze, communicate, copy, coordinate, instruct, use interpersonal skills, compile, and negotiate.
JUDGMENT AND DECISION MAKING: Work is assigned by Group Leader, Roofing Specialist, maintenance schedule, and work/service orders. This position requires application of technical knowledge to determine quantity of work and equipment and materials needed to complete job with available manpower and within established time frames. Work is guided by Uniform Building Code and Group Leader directions. Decision making requires collaboration with equipment operators, Plumbers, Sheet Metal Workers, Structural technicians, Group Leaders, Building Engineers, and school staff. Errors in decision making could result in not completing work within estimated time frame, leaving a roof open and exposing building interior to damage. Supervisor is occasionally involved in decision making.
DIVERSITY OF DUTIES: Duties require cross-training in a variety of roofing systems, heavy equipment operation, carpentry, and sheet metal. Duties extend within immediate department.
