Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Junior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to join our team in the Herndon, Chantilly, and Arlington VA with occasional support at Dahlgren, VA and Lexington Park MD locations. Primary location is Herndon, VA at ManTech HQ.

As the Jr. ISSO, you will work under the direction of the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM). This is a multi-tasking environment that demands customer service, communication, and organizational skills at one or more ManTech office locations. A successful candidate will be motivated, results-oriented and have a willingness to learn. The Jr. ISSO will maintain the operational security posture to ensure information systems (IS) security policies, standards, and procedures are established and followed for assigned system(s).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with development of supporting documentation and apply standards, directives, guidance, policies, and security control to classified computing environments in support of Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 503
  • Utilize one or more Risk Management Framework implementation methods to include but not limited to; JSIG, CNSSI 1253, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-171, DoDM-5220-22 (NISPOM)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain customer system accreditations through the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Assist in preparation and review documentation to include System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports (RAR), Security Controls Traceability Matrix (SCTM), and other Assessment & Authorization (A&A) artifacts
  • Support efforts for vulnerability/risk assessment analysis to support Assessment & Authorization (A&A), including system self-assessments
  • Learn and conduct independent scans of the operating systems, applications, networks, and databases with tools such as DISA STIGS and SCAP (SCC) tool, Tenable Security Center/Nessus, and other vulnerability/compliance verification tools as required
  • Assist in the research and address information security issues as required, and develop and maintain the Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) and support remediation activities
  • Provide continuous monitoring, security reviews, and technical inspections to enforce security policies, controls and procedures and mitigate identified vulnerabilities and weaknesses
  • Create processes and reports that will provide oversight into continuous monitoring and assessment activities for the system owner, ISSM and ManTech management
  • Maintain inventory of system software, hardware, firmware, and participate in end of lifecycle activities for property turn-in (PTI)
  • Responsible for conducting system account management, training tracking and audit log reviews and recording and reporting results
  • Provide direction and guidance to other employees about computer security issues via security education and awareness, conduct Information Systems Security briefings, participate in self-inspections and audits, and investigate security incidents
  • Ad hoc duties as assigned

Experience and Education:

  • 1+ years of ISSO experience
  • DoD Directive 8570-01-M – Cyberspace Workforce Management compliant certification: Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level I
  • CompTIA Security+ CE, ISC2 CAP preferred
  • Associates degree in computer, or cyber/security related discipline preferred

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must current possess a minimum of an active Secret clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situation
