Qualifications:

  • Experience in elementary music instruction
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education or related field or
  • NV K-12 Music or NV Substitute Teaching License (K-12) or related licensure

Salary, Benefits & Work Expectations:

  • 190 contract work days from 8am-4pm
  • Teach a daily schedule of music classes to students in grades K-5
  • Support campus operations with supplemental duties such as recess, lunch, dismissal and arrival.

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a dynamic candidate who values the importance of music in the scope of a Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math (STEAM) education. At PANN we place an equal emphasis on academic, physical, social-emotional, and character education and instill a growth mindset modeled by faculty and staff who love their work. The Music Teacher is responsible for teaching K-5th grade general music classes in collaboration with the performing arts faculty and general education teachers. The ideal candidate is invested in PANN’s mission to grow our Performing Arts Conservatory and sees the elementary program as a pathway to instill the joy of loving music in the hearts of young scholars. The teacher must plan and implement a curriculum with differentiated instruction that involves music, movement, and instruments. The candidate must have excellent time-management, organizational, and communication skills, and be collaborative with team members and dynamic and adaptable to shifting work conditions. The ideal candidate will have a collegial personality and be responsive to direction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Possess strong classroom management.
  • Plan concerts and events for classes, grade levels and whole-school

level-sized groups.

  • Have an ability to critically look for and use music in the classroom that celebrates culture, history and the arts.
  • Monitor grade-level music and performing arts benchmarks and standards for K-5 students
  • Understand of approach learning and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners
  • Maintain a flexible approach to working on several grade teams and co-teaching partnerships
  • An ability to collaborate and work across teaching teams
  • Experience working with families as partners
  • A demonstrated history of energy and enthusiasm in the classroom
  • An ability to work with technology to support, supplement, and enhance teaching and learning
  • Confidence and enthusiasm for working with young children
  • An ability to inspire others
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and improve professionally
  • Sound judgment and emotional maturity

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Occasionally lifting, pulling or pushing during the normal performance of tasks and responsibilities is required. The work requires frequent walking and standing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature, noise and hazards are relatively nonexistent apart from musical instruments.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Two (2) years of college
  • Bachelors or Masters degree preferred

EXPERIENCE: Student teaching, classroom teaching, private music lessons or related experience in teaching and music

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of teaching staff.
