Summary

Dr. Denise Sekaquaptewa (PI, Stereotyping and Prejudice Research Interest Group) is seeking a part-time Lab Manager/Post-Bac Researcher to join the research team in June/July 2023 (exact start date is negotiable). Students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in social psychology or other related fields are encouraged to apply.

This position is ideal for a recent (or soon to be) graduate who is interested in strengthening their study design, data analysis, and publishing skills before applying to graduate school in psychology. Ideally, the candidate will also be interested in the topics of (a) implicit bias; (b) social identity threat; (c) stereotyping and prejudice; and (d) the scientific study of diversity issues. Responsibilities*

The primary responsibilities include:

  • overseeing data collection from surveys and experiments (both online and in person),

  • supervising 3-5 research assistants, coordinating schedules of studies and other lab activities,

  • developing survey and experimental materials,

  • creating executive reports and summaries, and

  • managing grants and Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols. Training will be provided.

This position reports to a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Sekaquaptewa Lab. The lab manager will also have the opportunity for contribution to ongoing research projects, leading to the possibility of scientific presentations and publications.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related field.

  • Experience in an experimental social psychology lab (or related experience).

  • Experience working with Institutional Review Board applications (IRBs).

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Qualtrics, and SPSS.

  • Candidates must be organized, conscientious, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.

  • Candidates must be good communicators and respond to day-to-day email communication promptly and efficiently.

  • Candidates must be committed to successful and respectful collaborative work with a research team.

Additional Information

This is a 1-year term-limited appointment with possible extension contingent on successful performance, availability of work and continuation of funding.
