The Laboratory Support Center LST is responsible for supporting all laboratory service activities within the Groton, CT Drug Safety and Research Development (DSRD) Laboratory Support Center Group. As a member of the LSC team the candidate will be required to learn a wide variety of support activities and functions. This role will be required to follow regulations, and for assuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards, and company policies along with applicable worldwide regulations and guidelines (e.g. FDA, IACUC, USDA).
This role requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment, subject to a valid medical or religious accommodation.

responsibilities:
Perform all regulatory responsibilities in compliance with applicable regulatory and documentation standards
Laboratory Support Services
- Preparation and labeling of samples and sample containers
- Transport data and specimens to archives
- Centrifuge, aliquot and freeze specimens as needed
- Prepare, dispose, and replace biohazard boxes
Shipping/Receiving
- Provide shipping support: process, pack and sort packages and freight as directed
- Performs related services, such a picking up packages from designated drop off locations to be shipped, filling shipments with dry ice, cold pack, etc.
- Ensure all federal, state, international, and internal regulations are adhered to pertaining to the shipping of Dangerous Goods
- Receipt of materials into multiple approved electronic inventory systems
- Subdividing, re-packaging and sampling of all material types, to include hazardous
materials
- Complete GxP/quality inspections on incoming materials, to include but not limited to active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), excipients, raw materials, reagents, controlled substances, and hazardous materials
- Manages the inventory and delivery of lab supplies including but not limited to: laboratory consumables, bulk chemical, reagent, freezer, and sample inventories
- Performing electronic and physical inventory transactions for all materials
Operational Maintenance
- Provide equipment maintenance requests/cleaning support, including but not limited to hoods, centrifuges, processors, stainer reagents, etc.
- Gathering, cleaning, and sending laboratory equipment; including but not limited to, weights & pipettes for calibration or serving
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports indirectly to Global Pathology Laboratory Operations Lead
- Matrix interactions with DSRD Customer Lines
qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum High School diploma (or equivalent)
- 1-3 years working in a laboratory or pharmaceutical environment
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Experience working in and/or knowledge of a GxP environment
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to obtain the following certifications International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) Dangerous Goods
PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Position requires working with formalin and other laboratory chemicals, lifting up to 40lbs
