Full Job Description

The Landscape Estimator / Drafter is responsible for design activities to include creating digital landscape designs, rendered landscape plans, construction details, and assist with creating proposals and cost estimates based on accurate measurements and analyses. The Landscape Estimator / Drafter will build client relationships while promoting the company through exceptional projects and customer service. You will assist with the management of projects through to completion while working in collaboration with our production team to ensure project success. The Landscape Designer / Estimator will also monitor the financial performance of projects for timeliness, profitability, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities:

· Design Skills:

Able to produce planting, irrigation, drainage, and hardscape plans and details from concept to completion.

Ability to read, analyze and understand site maps. Design scope will include but is not limited to:

Ø Planting and landscape designs

Ø Pools, spas, and water features

Ø Decks, pavilions, pergolas, and other structure types

Ø Patios, walkways, retaining walls

Ø Fireplace and fire pits

Ø Outdoor kitchens

Ø Outdoor lighting

· Time Management:

Able to plan and efficiently schedule appointments and manage personal time to assure maximum productivity. Ability to proactively manage design and financial elements of the landscape design process.

· Surveys/Pricing/Site Visits:

Able to appraise and survey landscape systems, interpret drawings, and job conditions. Properly apply company pricing policy and utilize the Aspire pricing system. Ability to conduct site visits during the installation process.

· Customer Relations:

Promptly address customer concerns to assure resolution. Communication skills to convey conceptual ideas with the customer into a verified design that meets the customer needs.

· Green Industry Knowledge:

Have a thorough understanding of landscape services and products to accurately design and implement project designs to manage the needs of the client effectively and efficiently.

· Design Presentation Strategy:

Understand the prospect's needs and wants, their residential or organization layout and decision-making process. Anticipate and answer objections from the internal team and the client as needed. Schedule and attend site meetings with the client during the design process as needed.

· Company Relations:

Build and maintain rapport and positive working relations with field, office, and management personnel to resolve problems, exploit opportunities, and maximize profits. Ability to resolve site problems during the installation phase as it pertains to the design process. Ability to conduct preinstall review with the Production Manager, project foreman or supervisor.

· External Relations:

Build rapport and productive working relationships with customers, vendors, and other outside agents. Effectively represent the company's interests and outside agents to maximize profits. Present a professional image to the client by arriving to appointments on time and ready for the presentation.

· Purchasing:

Participate, when requested, with operations in vendor selection, timely purchase, and delivery to assure prompt customer service.

· Documentation:

In a timely fashion, prepare complete, clear, and concise designs. Ability to maintain accurate records of client meetings for analysis during the design process.

· Special Projects:

Provide support for any special projects as assigned by your manager. These special projects, at the determination of your manager, may or may not become part of this position's primary responsibilities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements (PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED)

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Design. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of construction and horticulture from prior work experience.
  • Professional design experience. A minimum of two years of landscape and hardscape design experience preferredin a position that involved working directly with residential and commercial clients.
  • Expertise with standard design concepts, practices and procedures as demonstrated through relevant work and educational experience.
  • An in-depth understanding of landscape construction products, methods, and procedures. Knowledge of horticultural materials and planting techniques specific to the to the region as well as prior experience installing plants and/or hardscaping materials are a plus.
  • Experience in reading scaled landscape plans, engineering plan sets, and construction details. Ability to calculate labor costs and material requirements and quantities based on site plans.
  • Strong work knowledge of drawing or drafting software such as CAD, Solidworks, VectorWorks, or other design software.
  • Proficiency leveraging technology/software such as VectorWorks (& other design software), Aspire, Microsoft Office (specifically Outlook & Excel).
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of conversion factors and unit weights for all related construction materials commonly utilized in the industry.
  • Must be able to work independently, while meeting internal schedules and deadlines.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean history. (Required)
  • Must be able to pass drug test at any time. (Required)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000 - $65,000 per year
