Job Description
Southern Shade Tree Co Inc., a major commercial landscape company in the Carolinas, is seeking to hire an experienced Irrigation Technician to join our growing team.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

• Plumbing repair and installation/repair of irrigation systems
• Knowledge of irrigation as-builts
• Knowledge of various types of pipe and their proper repair and maintenance
• Knowledge of remote control watering systems
• Understanding of blueprints and diagrams related to irrigation systems
• Understanding of watering requirements for lawns, trees and plants and various types of soil
• Other related irrigation skills/knowledge

Requirements:

• Current Drivers License with good driving records for the last 3 years

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspects sites for the purpose of identifying repair needs and minimizing damage.
• Installs automated irrigation systems and components (e.g. sprinkler and misting systems and components, drip irrigation, backflow prevention valves, electronic time clocks, automatic controllers, anti-siphon valves, etc.) for the purpose of conserving water and soil resources and maintaining the attractiveness of district facilities.
• Maintains installed automated irrigation systems (e.g. diagnosing electric, mechanical, electronic problems and programming electronic controllers, etc.) for the purpose of optimizing water use and keeping systems in good working order.
• Procures equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining the availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently.
• Programs electronic controllers for the purpose of optimizing and controlling water.
• Repairs irrigation systems and components (e.g. valves, wiring, o-rings, electronic timers, switches, timer motors, panels, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring equipment and/or components are in proper working order
• Researches irrigation and/or plumbing systems and equipment for the purpose of obtaining information for decision making and/or recommendations.
• Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety and security concerns.
• Review blueprints for the purpose of recommending changes in layout prior to installation.
• Schedules precision watering for the purpose of ensuring optimum watering levels and minimizing disruption of services.
• Transports a variety of items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at the job site.
• Other duties as assigned.

Pay based on experience. Year round employment!
