The Landscape Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing the landscaping department encompassing designing and the follow up maintenance of existing landscaped areas and new landscape designs. Plans and directs the work of staff including training, assigning, planning, and reviewing work, evaluating work performance, coordinating activities, maintaining standards, allocating personnel, selecting new employees, acting on employee problems. Job responsibilities include managing, developing or refining plans for the projects, which may include water systems, ornamental plants, trees, ground covers, and landscaping structures (e.g., walkways, water, and lighting). Must be able to design small and large landscape areas and their associated irrigation systems. Other job duties include managing pest control, estimating costs and negotiating prices for plants, equipment, and outside service contracts. Supervise employees that install and maintain the water systems and landscaping. This involves scheduling work crews, planning daily work activities, and monitoring the work being done. Also responsible for training employees on safety and work procedures for all equipment and hazardous materials involved. Position is responsible for managing all landscape field operations within the division. Coordinates the procurement and scheduled use of resources, including labor, equipment, and materials to ensure maximum use and completion of work within budget, safety guidelines and quality standards. Promotes the growth and development of field staff and assists them in carrying out their responsibilities as needed.

Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to the Landscaping Department within the Maintenance Division.
- Maintain the safety of guests and employees by ensuring proper maintenance of company equipment and enforcing safe work practices at all times. Ensures all work is completed in adherence to safety policies and guidelines. Conduct inspections and safety training on job sites as needed. Investigates any accident or safety violation, prepares appropriate reports, takes action steps to correct and prevent future occurrences. Defines and implements solutions to recurring accidents or most common hazards.
- Develop and accurately maintain budgets and schedules for all assigned departmental responsibilities.
- Manage landscaping, irrigation, pest control, and aquatics projects to deliver maximum performance and value for the company. Complete projects on time and within budgets. Manages and schedules labor, equipment, and material to accomplish production schedules and established budgets.
- Ensure that all employees and guests are treated with respect and dignity at all times. Conduct regular staff meetings and communicate with members of other departments to coordinate operational activities.
- Manage maintenance projects and assigned tasks to maximize the appearance, function, and availability of company equipment and facilities.
- Manage department staff within the work force. Including hiring, disciplining, training, coaching, mentoring, and developing staff to reach potential and established goals for the individual and division. Identify and develop Crew Leaders.
- Maintain a high level of good housekeeping and care of company assets in the field, vehicles, shop, and work‑sites.
- Must be able to calibrate chemical doses for fertilization of small areas to acres of turf & ornamentals, pesticide usage, etc.
- To support and participate in the development, implementation, and refinement of departmental best practices in all areas of field operations and safety. To keep abreast of new methods that might be applicable to the Company; constantly pursing new ideas, which could be implemented.
- Maintain all field reporting and records required for reporting procedures and are completed accurately and timely to maintain company, State, and Federal regulations.
- Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.

Associate's Degree (2 year College or Tech School Preferred) or a closely related field.

Must have at least 6-10 years of related experience.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Prior experience with landscape maintenance and design is required.
- More than 5 years' experience successfully managing a large and diverse workforce in landscape maintenance or a closely related field.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable laws, codes, standards, and industry practices relating to Landscape Maintenance.
- At least 5 years' experience with the implementation, administration, and development of expense budgets.
- Must have a good understanding of modern business practices and procedures, business letter writing and elements of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, and mathematics. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is desired. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with others is a must.
- Must possess a valid/current "category B" Qualified Applicator Certificate with the California Department of Pesticide Regulation.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.
- Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
- Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
