Lead Preschool Teacher Job at LOS GATOS COMMUNITY
Under the direct supervision of the Preschool Director, the Pre-School Teacher plans, develops and implements an educational program that provides for the full intellectual and social development of young children. This position performs in accordance with all licensing regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The duties of this position shall include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
- Plan, develop and implement an educational curriculum that is developmentally appropriate.
- Acts as the Pre-School Teacher for a designated facility.
• Provide for the care and safety of children. • Confers with parents regarding special needs, facility activities, and policies.
- Prepare snack and safe storage of all food items.
- Housekeeping and sanitation principals, including universal health precautions.
- Assistance with prescribed medications.
- Recognition of early signs of illness and need for professional assistance.
- Works with Director to develop and implement preschool curriculum.
- Provide appropriate disciplinary measures according to agreed parameters and develop a good rapport with the children.
- Supervises any aides and volunteers while performing their duties.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE The ideal candidate for this position should have a strong knowledge of the growth and development of children; effective organizational, planning, instructional and communication skills; and excellent customer service skills. Qualifications include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Desirable candidates will have completed 24 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units. 1-2 years experience in a school age, pre-school and/or infant care setting.
- Completion of at least 1 year at a College or University with a major in Child Development or related area.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of early childhood programs, simple arithmetic, PC proficient, use of recreational equipment and materials, and age appropriate activities and programs.
- Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certificate is required before/upon appointment.
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of all ages: Participate in the delivery of educational programs; establish and maintain relationships with those contacted during the course of work; maintain discipline and control in an active environment; and make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
