Lead, Quality Assurance Engineer Job at Technology Credit Union
Position Summary: The Lead, Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the deployment of software solutions at Technology Credit Union (Tech CU) are of the highest quality with minimal employee and member disruption. The scope of responsibilities include being a part of and leading a team of QA engineers, and ensuring the high quality of Tech CU’s cutting edge products, a strong understanding of requirements and features of software solutions, developing a comprehensive test plan, building flexible and reusable test automation solutions, execution of test plan, and post deployment verification.
Responsibilities: Essential Duties
- Leads the team and is also a hands on individual contributor and support the testing activities as needed.
- Coaches and mentors team members and colleagues on quality assurance best practices. Also trains new team members.
- Implements and drives automated testing strategies and frameworks across multiple systems and platforms.
- Participates at the commencement of application and software development projects to fully understand functional requirements.
- Understands and interprets technical, system, and architecture designs.
- Develops formal test plans that detail scope, functionality, performance, risks and acceptance criteria.
- Hosts meetings with project team for test plan approval.
- Participates in project sprint planning meetings.
- Develops test scripts based on project requirements and features.
- Collaborates with project management and technical team to understand, test and resolve defects.
- Automates testing and test data gathering through scripting.
- Ensures Tech CU Enterprise Application updates are thoroughly tested prior to release.
- Obtains an understanding of application behavior through reviewing raw code, as needed.
- Documents test scripts through Tech CU’s document management system to enable archival and referencing, as needed.
- Assists Information Technology (IT) support and technical teams to help troubleshoot issues surrounding software solutions, as needed.
Work Schedule
- Full-time; typically 40 hours/week
- Flexible schedule within core business hours, M-F
- Flexibility to occasionally work early or late hours, and extended weekend hours, typically with advance notice.

Qualifications: Education: BS/BA Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Emerging Technologies or related technical/business discipline.

Experience: *
- 7+ years’ experience in related disciplines including programming and development, databases, project management, and software quality assurance.
- Advanced experience working with Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) and Representational State Transfer (REST) service integrations.
- Strong experience testing Mobile Applications on Android and iOS.
- Solid experience testing Web Applications using Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. Strong experience with test automation and automation frameworks for UI and API/Web Services automation.
- Strong hands-on experience in black box and white box testing.
- Strong experience in test cases and Defect management using tools like JIRA, X-Ray, and Zephyr etc.
- Leadership experience is highly desirable.
- Experience in PowerOn, .NET, and Java is highly desirable.
- Experience in version control tools such as Git, Bitbucket, etc is highly desirable.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: *
- Strong understanding of software QA methodologies: Functional, Regression, Unit, Smoke, Performance, User Acceptance, and Integration.
- Strong documentation abilities using Word, Excel, Visio, Confluence and similar tools.
- Solid understanding and adaptability of Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
- Strong ability to develop automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, Postman, JMeter, SoapUI etc.
- Strong understanding of databases and SQL.
- Proven ability to lead with passion and by example, setting a tone and foundation for a highly responsive, productive, efficient and supportive team.
- Uncompromising ability to implement simple solutions that are “fit for purpose” (fulfill business needs), “fit for use” (available when needed) and a “right fit” (fits the size and complexity of Tech CU).

This is a grade 15 position, with a salary range from $121,500 to $194,500 with bonus potential of 15%. The anticipated range for new hires is between the low-end and midpoint of the range, depending on experience. Tech CU is a pay-for performance organization that benchmarks base pay to the 50th percentile of our market and we provide incentive-based compensation aligned with successful accomplishment of individual and corporate goals. The salary mentioned above is based on working in San Jose, CA. Salaries are based on the geographic location in which you live if working remotely.
Additionally, Tech CU provides health care benefits, life and disability insurance, paid holidays and 401k with a company match; along with employee paid voluntary benefits. Paid Time Off (PTO) is accrued per pay check at a rate based on your grade and tenure. Eight hours of Voluntary Time Off (VTO) are granted to full time employees annually to dedicate time to charitable organizations. Leaves of absences are available in adherence with state and federal regulations.
