LIBRARY DIRECTOR, OTTO BRUYNS PUBLIC LIBRARY OF NORTHFIELD

The Board of Trustees of the Otto Bruyns Public Library of Northfield, NJ is seeking a visionary Library Director to serve a community of 9,000. The successful candidate should possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills while offering proven experience in personnel management, evolving technologies, budgetary, public relations, and library policy crafting.

Compensation:

Starting salary base $50,000.00 but will commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits package, pension, and generous leave included.

Qualifications:

The Library Director will be responsible to the Board of Trustees for the operation and management of all library services and administration. These include, but are not limited to: collection development, programming, cataloging, technology, and purchasing.

In addition, the Library Director prepares the annual budget, attends monthly evening Library Board meetings, attends and hosts monthly COIL meetings, attends a weekend program bi-monthly, submits reports to the NJ State Library, maintains financial accounts, helps formulate and uphold library policies, and trains and supervises library staff.

The successful candidate will have an enthusiastic love of books and media of all genres, a comprehensive understanding of technology, and the ability to interact with library patrons of all ages.

Requirements:

The candidate must hold a Masters of Library Science degree and a NJ State Professional Librarian Certificate. Candidate must be a New Jersey resident. QuickBooks or other financial accounting software experience is necessary.
