What You'll Be Doing

Wake County Public Libraries is seeking a Youth Services Department Manager for its Northeast Regional Library in the Northeast Raleigh/Wake Forest area. You will work as part of a management team at the library and more specifically, supervise a talented team of librarians and library assistants who work in the Youth Services Department providing dynamic programs and services to children of all ages. As a Department Manager, you will also collaborate with your peers and librarians from across the system to create and promote quality children’s programming and services.
Key Responsibilities include:
Supervise a team of Librarians and Library Assistants in providing programs and services to children birth through teen and their caregivers
Work as the Manager on Duty in the absence of the Library Manager
Collaborate with colleagues and Library Administration on system projects and initiatives

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Master's degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program
One year of experience as a Librarian
Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
Three years of professional public library experience
One year of public library management experience
Experience working in a high volume public library youth department

Ability to build and maintain positive, productive relationships with administration and staff
Problem solving, planning and delegation skills
Leadership and motivational skills
Knowledge of current Youth Services trends and practices in public libraries

Employment Type: Regular
Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:00am -5:00pm or 8:15am - 5:15;pm may require some nights and weekends
Hiring Range: $63,386 - $85,573
