Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) is the oldest and largest AIDS Service Organization (ASO) in Oregon and Southwest Washington, as well as a Federally Qualified Health Center (Look-A-Like) that provides the LGBTQ+ community and beyond with compassionate healthcare. Our House provides integrated health and housing services to people with HIV. Guided by compassion, we provide 24-hour specialized care, supportive services, and independent housing support services. The Our House Residential Care Facility (RCF) is a team of expert clinicians who work with people living with HIV who are having difficulty managing independent living. By tailoring nursing, social work, and therapeutic everyday activities our clients and residents are able to define what ‘living well’ means to them.
Our House of Portland is excited to announce that we are hiring an experienced Life Enrichment Assistant. The Life Enrichment Assistant responsible for assisting the Life Enrichment Coordinator in implementing the care plan and carrying out the activities for the residents, aiding and collaborating in meeting the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being and interests of each resident. This position provides direct activity services to meet the identified needs and interests through individual and group programs.
The Life Enrichment Assistant also maintains documentation that reflects services provided and resident progress toward goals, and communicates program goals and functions to residents, staff, families, and volunteers. This part-time (0.4 FTE) position is stationed in CAP’s Our House location. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
NOTE: This is a non-management, union-represented position. The compensation, benefits, and conditions of work for this position are collectively bargained.
WORK SCHEDULE: Friday – Monday with varying hours, and a varying work schedule for special events
COMPENSATION: $19.34 hourly
Successful candidates will have:
· Motivation to work with persons with HIV/AIDS who require all levels of care.
· Willingness to work with persons with physical and emotional health and/or chemical dependency challenges.
· Ability to understand and follow written or verbal instructions.
· Creativity necessary to manage recreational and craft activities.
· Leadership ability to plan, organize, and conduct Activity program.
· Ability to generate enthusiasm for the Activity program.
EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:
- Overtime after ten hours worked consecutively in one day
- Weekend and Evening Shift differential of $1.00 per hour. Night shift weeknights $6.00 per hour and $6.50 weekends.
- 401(k) Plan – CAP matches employee contributions up to 3% of salary, this benefit includes on-call and per diem staff

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Basic computer skills.
· Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Desire and ability to engage in equity and inclusion initiatives and discussions in the workplace, including but not limited to: engaging in training workshops, team and department meetings, and critical discussions for how CAP can better support the communities that we serve.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Knowledge of infection control and universal precautions.
· Knowledge of transfer techniques and body mechanics.
· Ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with personnel, residents, families, and visitors.
· Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality and adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy requirements.
· Flexibility to work varied schedule based on special events, emergencies, programs, and trips.
· Ability to relate positively and favorably to staff, residents, and families, and to work as a team with other employees at all levels. Ability to function and excel in a team environment.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships across a multicultural spectrum of organizations and professionals, including community partners and funders.
- Successful experience working with ethnic, racial, economic, and sexually diverse populations and persons who have experienced houselessness, persons with a mental illness and/or substance use issues.
- A strong understanding of issues relevant to people living with HIV, communities of color, and the LBGTQ+ community and how those issues affect or influence service delivery.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity and inclusion in workplace or community settings.
· Experience working with people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and/or people with disabilities, chronic illness and/or other barriers to employment.
· Lived experience of systemic oppression and non-dominant cultures. We encourage applications from Black, Indigenous, and other people of color; transgender, non-binary, and other LGBTQ+ people; and people with disabilities, including HIV.
· Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity and inclusion in workplace or community settings.
· Knowledge of benefits programs available to People Living with HIV.
CAP cares about the safety of our team members and clients.
