Terramac is looking for a Machine Design Engineer at our Sugar Grove, IL location. Join our high-performing team of vehicle system experts and help us bring Terramac Crawler Carriers to new markets with next-level design robustness and performance. You’ll use your full range of technical and hands-on skills, as well as expand your limits and engineering knowledge as we break through barriers to make the safest, best performing, most reliable, and most versatile machines in our class.
The Machine Design Engineer will:
- Create, update, and modify new component and system designs to meet the ever-changing global market entry requirements, including health and safety; emissions; substance restrictions; extended producer responsibility and responsible sourcing; and sustainability and circular economy requirements.
- Design and execute tests in the plant, in the field, or with third parties to prove our products meet market entry requirements.
- Own design control and maintenance of at least one machine system.
- Produce appropriate documentation to prove conformance to requirements.
- Assist in or lead development of a robust chemical constituent bill-of-material capture process.
The Machine Design Engineer needs:
- Engineering degree strongly preferred but relevant experience with lab tests, designs, and certifications may be considered instead.
- Ability to create 3D component and assembly designs and drawings in SOLIDWORKS.
- High level of integrity and accountability.
- Solid technical writing skills.
- Ability to read and interpret national and international standards.
- Hands-on experience in a shop or lab environment.
- Basic familiarity with electronic measurement equipment and instruments.
- Ability to travel to attend relevant industry conferences & seminars and off-site testing (less than 20% of the time).
What helps:
- Background with construction or agricultural equipment a plus.
- Experience designing sheet metal and plate steel weldments a plus.
- Prior experience with some form of regulatory compliance a plus.
- Instrumented testing, data reduction, and test reporting experience a plus.
