MISO is searching for the next leader of our Economic Planning area. In this role, you will lead a staff of engineers and analysts to produce economic planning models used in MISO’s Long Range Transmission Plan, congestion analysis, and production cost modeling. It is vital that our selection is able to coach, develop, and partnering with their team on their career objectives.

Our Manager Economic Planning will:

• Interface and coordinate planning activities with MISO’s Transmission Owner (TO) members, state commission staffs, other stakeholders, and adjacent regional planning entities – therefore, interpersonal skills are a must!
• Guide and direct MISO’s long-term transmission planning studies consisting of economic analysis and dispatch supporting MISO’s Long-Range Transmission Plan to develop a robust expansion plan to meet policy, economic, and reliability needs – therefore, previous energy industry experience is a must!
• Lead team to enhance processes and technology for production cost analysis that assess the future transmission needs given anticipated resource fleet transformation – therefore, leadership skills are a must!

MISO’s Manager Economic Planning will need to possess the following skills/experiences:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Economics, or related field, (or 4 years relevant work experience equivalency) with a minimum of three years’ experience in a closely related field.
• Previous energy industry experience.

It would be great if we found someone who possessed a Master’s degree and experience in Power Systems engineering, Environmental issues management, engineering economics, experience understanding and/or applying regulatory requirements, but it is not required.

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
