Primary Objective of Position: As an Electrical Engineering Manager, you provide leadership in defining technology, tools, and process strategy. Serve as a liaison between Project Management, Product Management, cross-functional engineering teams, and operations. Direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering efforts within the area of responsibility. By taking a hands-on approach to the job, you will ensure that verification and electrical engineering design methodologies support product and safety requirements and that development processes fall within established timelines.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Overall responsibility for the engineering aspects of a technical domain, including the acquisition of critical resources when needed.
  • Identify project risks, assess issues and develop resolutions that meet cost, schedule productivity, and quality.
  • Review’s status of projects and budgets manages schedules and prepares status reports.
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem-solving with project managers, line managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Selects develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Handles personnel issues within the area of responsibility including merit planning, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
  • Participates in the development of technical strategies and teaming strategies in the technical domain.
  • Ensures process compliance of all engineering activity in the area of responsibility.
  • Leads specific process improvement activities.
  • Determines and implements the organizational training needs in accordance with the requirements of the technical domain.
  • Communicates regularly with project management, suppliers, product team, and internal management.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
  • Creates production, quality validation, and evaluation requirements as well as tests and troubleshoots production dilemmas.
  • Establishes technical standards in reviews, documentation, and designs.
  • Streamlines production while meeting compliance and safety guidelines.
  • Ensuring design validation testing is completed at the product, system, and Vehicle levels.
  • Implement end-of-line requirements for plant testing.

  • Functional knowledge of automotive or on-road electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with CAN Protocol and/or experience developing/validating diagnostics for ECUs.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field with 10 years of experience in the design and development of durable goods, preferably on-road transportation.
  • Master of Science preferred.
  • Previous electrical engineering management experience is a plus.
  • Experience in Siemens NX and Mentor Graphics Capital preferred.
  • Experience in CAN messaging, connectivity, multiplexing, 12V, 48V, and high voltage applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of state, national, and FMVSS codes and their applications is a plus.
  • 5+ years experience using CAN tools and diagnostic tools
  • This position may require travel to other Winnebago locations.
