Summary:
The Manager of Finance and Operations, under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Finance and Accounting, performs assigned financial and budget related duties for the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) Innovation Nest (iNest)—a new facility and portfolio of programs that support Temple University’s innovation community and surrounding entrepreneurial ecosystem. The Manager be responsible for monitoring, analyzing and projecting the expenditures for the iNest facility and programs.
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, the Manager assists in the preparation, review and maintenance of relevant financial documents and reports for the iNest, including space use and sponsorship agreements, including the collection of revenue due under such agreements. In addition, the Manager is responsible for initiating purchase requisitions, work requests, travel reimbursements, human resource requisitions, etc. Further, the Manager will assist the Assistant Director in the billing, collection and distribution of income received from Temple’s technology commercialization activities.
The incumbent will also resolve any issues that arise from processing of relevant documents, such as invoices or purchase requisitions, by contacting all appropriate parties, effectively identifying the issue(s) and coordinating responses, resolutions and action plans. Regularly interacts with internal and external constituents to handle matters such as: exchanging and coordinating information; and clarifying and responding to needs.

Essential Functions:
- Prepares and facilitates appropriate facility use agreements, including space rental and space use by approved incubation tenants. Monitors, bills and collects amounts due from iNest tenants or other intern or entities that use the space.
- Prepares and facilitates appropriate sponsorship agreements, bills and collects any amounts due from sponsors.
- Managing the facility operations, including supplies and associated work orders, event-related purchases such as catering, and facility access, including issue guest IDs and parking for companies, guests and other collaborators using the space.
- Assists the Assistant Director in the billing, collection and distribution of patent reimbursements, license fees and royalties associated with Temple’s intellectual property and commercialization activities and pursuant to the University’s Invention and Patent Policy.
- Tracks and monitors accounts receivable associated with all iNest operations and programs, including sponsorships, commercialization revenue and facility use agreements, and works with Assistant Director to collect on amounts due.
- Prepares detailed financial analyses supporting actual financial transactions and budgets for the iNest.
- Provides assistance to iNest administrative support staff concerning fiscal and budgetary matters, including interpretation of related policies, procedures and related facility use agreements (e.g. incubating companies, event use, etc).
*Assists in the development of the annual budget and consolidated iNest reports, including quarterly financial snapshots in accordance with approved budgets.
*Establishes cost share accounts and associated JETs to fund technology development projects for iNest activities, including commercialization and iNest grant activities.
- Assists with HR administrative and financial functions associated with the iNest.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of related finance and accounting experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable professional financial and budgeting principles.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to work with large financial data sets.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including the ability to create complex financial spreadsheets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse constituent population.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic work environment.

This is a grant funded position.
This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
