Manager, Research Tax Credit Job at Sage Solutions Group
Our client is seeking a Research Tax Credit Manager to join their company. The Research Tax Credit Manager will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to conduct Research and Development (R&D) tax credit consulting services. Responsibilities include leading Client interviews and discussions, writing technical memorandum, assessing the applicability of R&D tax credit, development quantitative workpapers supporting amounted claimed, calculating R&D credit amount, preparing supporting documentation and reports, performing technical research at federal and state levels, and continuing development of knowledge for R&D applications by industry.
Responsibilities
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams to conduct research and development (R&D) tax credit consulting services, including leading interviews with clients subject matter experts, reviewing how Section 41 and R&D applications to their company and identifying Qualifying Research Activities.
- Preparation of accurate credit calculations, including data gathering, development and review of calculation templates, and preparation of the related tax forms, at the federal and state level for multiple clients simultaneously in accordance with deadlines as required.
- Conduct in-depth interviews with Client personnel to gain high-level understanding of qualifying activities and process of experimentation utilized by technical staff.
- Preparation and review of thorough and accurate final reports documenting the Client’s R&D tax credit, including the description of the R&D study process conducted, supporting documentation of Qualifying Research Expenses, supporting documentation of Qualifying Research Activities, and other information demonstrating the R&D activities of the Client.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in discipline or industry.
- Perform audit support for clients as necessary, including preparation of schedules, drafting responses to IRS inquiries, participating in meetings with IRS agents to support R&D credits claimed, and other audit support as required.
- Develop and sustain excellent client relationships to ensure timely reception of supporting data and perform regular status updates as the study progresses toward completion in accordance with project deadlines.
- Work with and/or oversee team to coordinate overall project execution.
- Resolves conflicts and provide solutions to customers in a timely manner.
- Builds client relationships, maintains smooth working relationship with clients.
- Effectively communicates all technical material to clients, verbally and in writing.
- Appropriately manages risk and ensures quality control procedures are being executed.
- In addition, performing engagement management activities including billing analysis, clearly communicate work plan and project objectives to project team.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a STEM discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Research Tax Credit consulting services.
- Prior experience working on Research Tax Credit engagements.
- Advanced Degree: MA/MS, JD or LLM, Licensed Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent (or in the process of pursuing)

This companies main offices is in Southfield, Michigan, and the position will be based from this location; however, the Company has a flexible work model in place that allows employees the freedom to work from home on occasion while also maintaining a presence in the office.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
