Primary interface between Design Engineering and Operations in support of the manufacturing of custom-made Ambulances

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Reviews all product design drawings and specifications to verify manufacturing feasibility.
  • Develops/maintains manufacturing processes, executes process improvements, creates standardized work instructions, and provides related technical support to Operations.
  • Conducts product family analysis and capacity planning to support the development of new product lines to increase throughput and reduce cost of manufacture.
  • Assist with capital and tooling analysis, strategies, justification, and acquisitions.
  • Works closely with all key functions of the organization to drive end-to-end process improvements (Specification, BOM, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, Safety, and Operations).
  • Maintain a significant presence on the shop floor to engage teams and drive process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of LSS projects to meet targeted objectives.
  • Execute LSS projects and mentor hourly associates to conduct problem solving using the DMAIC problem solving methodology.
  • Implement process improvements taking into consideration the cost, operation, reliability, manufacturability, adjustment, assembly, weight, installation, clearances, serviceability, standardization and adherence to industry standards and parameters to assure acceptable feasibility and integrity of product.
  • Support the development/execution of a Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Roadmap to drive a sustainable culture of continuous improvement to include: Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Standard Work, Takt Time, Line Balancing, Pull, Visual Management, SMED, Poka-yoke, Kaizen, 5S, and others.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience or understanding of manufacturing processes and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to conduct Value Stream Mapping sessions to identify waste and improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to conduct time studies to develop Standard Work and implement line balancing to meet Takt.
  • Ability to develop Visual Management Tools and Leader Standard Work to support Lean Daily Management.
  • Ability to use statistical techniques to conduct data analysis and drive improvement.
  • Must have excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills to interface directly with all levels of the organization, especially the hourly employee.
  • Must possess a high-energy level with a strong work ethic.
  • Good PC skills with knowledge of excel, word and outlook.


Desired Skills: (not required)

  • Experience in automotive related industry.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Certification
  • Experience with ISO 9001:2015/IATF16949 Quality Management Systems.
  • APICS Skills (Materials/Production Control)
  • Basic Machine Shop Knowledge: (Lazer Blanking Machine, Turret Press, Press Brake, Sheer, Milling Machine, Saws and Router)


Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or electrical)
