Are you interested in marketing and the publishing process? The Berkley imprint at Penguin Random House is seeking a Marketing Assistant to support our marketing programs. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing Assistant will provide administrative support and assist with the creation of marketing materials and advertising campaigns for a wide array of commercial fiction, including romance, women’s fiction, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, and more. This is an ideal position for someone who is looking to begin a career in publishing!


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide extensive administrative support, including notetaking, circulating materials for approval, content gathering, and sending out mailings
  • Become our Goodreads liaison, including setting up and fulfilling giveaways and providing help and support for our titles on the platform
  • Coordinate seasonal and monthly promotions, including, but not limited to, book club giveaways, low price nomination grids, and excerpt releases
  • Help to create promotional pieces and other sales and marketing materials as needed, such as Buzz Books nomination
  • Generate and post social media content on various platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Communicate extensively with other internal departments
  • Assist with title marketing as needed
  • Maintain internal system data.

  • Prior office or related experience
  • Exceptional writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle tasks from multiple points of contact
  • Familiarity with office-based programs, e.g. Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or Pages
  • Knowledge and experience working in various social media platforms a plus
  • Knowledge of Photoshop or Canva a plus


Salary for this position is $45,000
