Position Summary and Responsibilities
Client has an immediate opening for a Materials and Processes Subject Matter Expert that will support Space Systems while working independently, with oversight from, and in cooperation with, the LVSA Chief Engineer and Program Manager. The M&P SME may also support other NASA, DoD, or DoE projects as required. The M&P SME will be expected to be familiar with NASA-STD-6016 and to provide material selection recommendations to our client designers and NASA Engineering. The M&P SME will develop and submit Material Usage Agreements, Material Identification Usage Lists. The M&P SME will have experience in developing Fracture Control Plans and working fracture concerns with the Fracture Control Board. The M&P SME will have experience in developing plans and procedures for Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) processes and will be able to interpret test data in determination of flaws or indications. The M&P SME will have experience in specifying and utilizing metals, composites, plastics, and refractory materials. The M&P SME will have experience evaluating corrosion, hydrogen embrittlement, stress corrosion, and in development of plans to mitigate their effects.
Job Requirements
· Requires a BS degree in a recognized technical field
· Familiarity with NASA-STD-6016 and other NASA and DoD materials and processes specifications
· Ability to read and correctly interpret technical drawings and documents
· Must have working knowledge of:

· Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Office, PowerPoint, Word, and Project
Preferred Capabilities/Experience
· Advanced degree in Materials Science
· Experience with NASA MSFC engineering practices and personnel
· Experience with NASA MSFC MAEB processes and personnel
· Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $70.00 - $75.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
