Terramac is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on Hydraulics and Cooling at our Sugar Grove, IL location. You’ll design, modify, improve, and maintain these systems and others to ensure our crawlers are operating at peak performance.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, select, and develop new hydraulic and cooling products and systems to meet product performance, durability, reliability, and cost goals.
  • Maintain and improve existing hydraulic and cooling system designs.
  • Manage one or more medium-sized design projects while balancing additional smaller projects.
  • Use SOLIDWORKS to design and document machine components and systems.
  • Assist groups throughout the organization on technical inquiries and serve as the primary engineering resource for the hydraulic and cooling systems.
  • Assist in machine performance testing.
  • React to manufacturing requests and related production and field issues in a timely manner, minimizing interruptions to manufacturing and machine down time in the field.
  • Work to determine root cause and resolution of machine non-conformance as necessary.
  • Document changes to process and product, and communicate change details to affected parties.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of product design experience, preferably with sheet metal and weldment experience in addition to familiarity with mobile hydraulics and cooling systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD, with SOLIDWORKS experience preferred.
  • Willingness to work hands-on with Production team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication ability.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ethical conduct with a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to manufacturing partners, trade shows, technical conferences, or training as necessary. (Less than 10% of the time.)
