Job Description
Children’s Wisconsin Medical Assistant Training Program
Earn while you learn! Children's is offering a 17 week paid accelerated Medical Assistant Training Program.

IMPORTANT: Applying to the program doesn't guarantee a spot in the training program. This training program has a competitive selection process that requires an application, interviews, and taking a TABE test assessment for meeting the required English and Math skill levels. Please see the recruitment timeline listed below and click on the links above to learn more about the training program.
Training Program details:
- Program start date is April 3rd, 2023.
- 17 week training program offering foundational coursework for a Medical Assistant Certification.
- 40 hours per week
- Monday – Friday during 1st shift
- Participants receive an hourly wage while training.
- Laptop computers & necessary equipment will be loaned to you upon acceptance into the program.
Recruitment Process & Timeline:
- Stage 1 – Complete application
- Applications are being collected in December 2022 to March 2023.
- Applications deadline is 3/3/23
- Stage 2 – Interview Screen
- Invitations to qualified candidates for interview screens will be sent up until March 3rd, 2023.
- Stage 3 – TABE Test & References
- Individuals who pass their interview screen will be invited to complete a TABE test assessment and references
- TABE Test Assessments will be completed up until March 2023.
- References checks will be completed up until March 2023.
- Stage 4 – Final Interview
- Individuals who pass the TABE test assessment and references process will be invited to a final interviews that will take place in February and March 2023.
- Stage 5 – Selection process
- Final candidates selected will be made offers of employment for the training program will be made in late February to early March
- Program start date is April 3rd, 2023
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Prior customer service experience is required.
- Prior healthcare experience is required.
- Availability to continue working as a medical assistant for 2+ years at Children's Wisconsin after completing the 14 week training program.
- A passion for wanting to work in healthcare.
- Willingness to learn and perform both blood draws and immunizations to pediatric patients.
- Ability to work with a diverse patient population to promote a culturally competent environment.
- Physical ability to lift and position patients weighing up to 75 pounds, as well as push and pull when performing cleaning functions.
This program is a partnership of the Center for Healthcare Careers, Employ Milwaukee, and the Medical College of Wisconsin. This project is funded by the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment.
