The Ophthalmic Center has been in practice for over 40 years. We are a practice that prides ourselves on treating our patients and staff like family. Responsibilities include:

Checking in/out patients, which entails collecting applicable out of pocket expenses (co-pays, deductible, co-insurance, non-covered expenses).

Scheduling appointments in a strategic manner in order to maximize patient flow efficiently. Schedule consists of 4 Doctors with different templates.

Use of electronic medical records system.

Answering phones, taking messages for the staff/Doctors using an electronic messaging system.

Checking benefits for the patients (deductible, co-insurance, co-pays) using the insurance companies’ websites, and automated phone systems.

Preparing charts for the next day.

Scanning miscellaneous paperwork.

Opening/Closing the office.

Reconciling money that was collected for the day.

Contacting patients who have not returned to the office to schedule an appointment.

Requirements:

Working knowledge of medical insurance guidelines.

Patient and/or customer service experience.

Working with a computer and the internet.

High School Equivalency/High School Diploma.

Skills:

Being able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Computer literate

Communication skills via over the phone and face to face interaction.

Ability to "smile over the phone".

Ability to manage your tasks in a timely fashion.

Must hold a positive attitude with patients and colleagues.

Must be a team player.
