How to Apply: If you are interested in contracting with our company, please submit all three items listed below. Incomplete applications will not be considered (please see above regarding the need to be able to follow written instructions).

1. Submit your resume.

2. Submit a cover letter telling us:

· a little about yourself, including relevant experience

Ideal Candidate: While we are primarily a medical transcription company focusing on IME reports, we have an urgent need for a Medical Records Reviewer who is capable of independently and accurately creating record review summaries for use in IME reports based solely on a patient’s medical records, which can range in length from a few dozen pages to a few thousand pages per report.

The ideal candidate for this position has experience working directly with medical records, whether in a medical or insurance setting, as a Workers’ Compensation professional, as a medical transcriptionist, or as a paralegal or legal assistant in a personal injury law firm. You must be capable of understanding and following complex written instructions with minimal supervision and be able to use (or be able to successfully research how to use) Word’s advanced formatting features, including space between paragraphs, hanging indents, complicated tables, and the concept of keep-with-next formatting. You will also be responsible for populating data in report templates of varying complexity.

Please be aware that reports are long and complicated, sometimes taking days to transcribe a single document. You will need to have excellent typing skills as well as strong grammar and analytical skills. Also, if you consider yourself to be strictly a “visual learner” who has difficulty following written instructions, you will not be a good fit for this position. Please respect our time and yours. However, if you think you have what it takes, we look forward to reviewing your resume and your testing materials.

Job Details: This is a full-time (NO part-time is available) position available for review of medical records and typing of record review summaries as an independent contractor. Work includes reviewing medical records and transcribing summaries based solely on the content of the medical records (i.e., no dictation will be provided), as well as template setup and specific formatting operations to be carried out on each report, varying by client. Finalized reports range in size from a few pages to 100 pages or more, all transcribed and edited in Microsoft Word.

A thorough understanding of medical terminology and medical specialties, as well as how specific conditions are related to specific specialties, is required. You will also need outstanding written communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with minimal direction once objectives have been clearly stated.

You can set your days/hours of work. Due to the nature of reviewing medical records, specific turnaround times cannot be established for every report, but most reports will have a deadline for the record review summary to be completed. Candidates must have outstanding grammar, punctuation, proofreading, and research skills, as well as be adept at utilizing Word’s higher-level formatting functions.

Equipment required includes high-speed internet with greater than 50 Mbps download speed (visit speedtest.net or speakeasy.net/speedtest to test your speed) and Microsoft Word 2007 or later.

Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent, as well as a minimum of two years of experience working with medical records in some capacity (i.e., in a medical office, in Workers’ Compensation, as a medical transcriptionist, in a personal injury law firm, etc.).

Location: This is a fully remote, work-from-home position.

Compensation: Pay is based on productivity, at a rate of 20 cents per transcribed line (65-character lines, including template and spaces).
