Converting Manager, Z-Flute

Description: This sheet fed converting facility produces a specialty line of folding cartons for national established brands in the consumer and beverage packaging industry.

Position Purpose: Responsible for providing leadership, guidance, direction and management for the Z-Flute operation during the various shifts of operation. Ensures safety, quality, production and customer satisfaction goals are met. Initiates and supports all processes and ensures compliance with Lean/Six Sigma efforts. Minimal supervision required.

Job Functions:

• Plans, directs and manages the operation to achieve operating goals and objectives consistent with plant and divisional objectives.
• Identifies cost reduction and continuous improvement opportunities in support of Lean/Six Sigma efforts.
• Identifies capital improvement projects for the operation and provides project management support.
• Establishes department goals in the areas of safety, quality, productivity and employee development.
• Ensures production operations are conducted in a safe clean working environment which complies with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
• Responsible to maintain inventories and expenditures within budgeted levels.
• Overall responsibility for maintenance of equipment and coordinates maintenance requirements to minimize operational impact.
• Works effectively with all department management to resolve issues and coordinate efforts to achieve stated goals.
• Additional duties as assigned.
• Directly involved in responsibilities /actions related to Prerequisite and Food Safety Programs.
• In the absence of Converting Facility Manager, daily responsibilities will be transferred to Production Manager or a Supervisor.
• Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
• Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
• Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
• Reporting of any customer complaints to persons responsible to enter into GPI’s Customer Complaint system for root cause analysis and appropriate corrective action taken.
• Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
• Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.

Requirements:

• Must be a leader with exceptional communication skills, good organization, and the ability to motivate people to perform at high levels.
• Must be quality conscious and customer oriented.
• Must possess the ability to develop improvements, achieve budget/cost constraint.
• A four-year college degree Required.
• Active pursuance of a degree with equipment-direct experience in the folding carton industry considered.
• Supervisory experience preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook and internet.
