Title: Mobile QA Engineer

Reports to: Manager, QA

Overview: Urban Outfitters Inc. is looking for a Mobile QA Engineer who will be a part of the URBN Engineering team. This team is responsible for building the front-end experiences that power URBN’s major brands such as Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People. We work closely with embedded product, user experience, and design teams to build performant and forward-thinking e-commerce experiences for our customers. This QA Engineer will lead, review and participate in development testing activities relating to the development of the next generation of the mobile applications. As part of a cross-functional agile team, this QA Engineer will utilize the latest mobile technologies and testing tools to ensure the team continuously releases quality functionality to URBN’s mobile application suite.

Responsibilities:

• Produce effective and detailed software test plans and cases
• Create and maintain automated testing framework (XCFramework) and scripts (Swift, Kotlin, Java)
• Lead testing effort as well as support improvements in performance, scalability, and accessibility of the mobile applications
• Perform exploratory testing during iterations, identify and perform regression tests, and write automated tests
• Collaborate with QA and cross functional team members on all project related testing
• Collaborating with Product Managers, Product Designers, and other Software Engineers to deliver compelling user-facing products
• Provide feedback on the various testing results and assist in shaping release efforts that support various business initiatives

Job Skills:

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills; ability to communicate with all levels of the organization from senior management to associate level
• Solid understanding of build tools and software configuration management standards (Jenkins)
• Working knowledge writing and executing automated tests

Qualifications

• Experience working in a tech-focused QA environment
• Experience with Swift and/or Kotlin and using mobile IDEs (Xcode, Android Studio) to build and debug applications
• Experience working with RESTful web services
• Detailed knowledge of the iOS / Android platforms & their design guidelines
• Meticulous attention to detail and a willingness to learn
• Working knowledge of retail and online commerce
• Proven success working in Agile software development methodologies
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
• An analytical mindset to not only identify bugs but also try to find the root cause

Bonus Skills

• Experience with Jira and Confluence
• Open to being mentored and/or mentoring others on the team
• Values Pair Programming and presenting tech topics to the team

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field

• Coding bootcamp graduate
