We are seeking a full time assistant, toddler heavy with some preschool and possible light kitchen work (dishes/snack prep).

Training and Qualifications:

• MUST have current enrollment in the Central Background Registry before starting this position (enrollment can take up to six weeks to process)
• Food Handler’s Card, Infant/Child First Aid/CPR, and several other required Office of Childcare/DELC required training within the first 30 days of hire. Covid vaccination and booster or exception required.
• High School diploma/equivalent (minimum)
• Step 8.5 or higher on Oregon Step Registry OR 1 year of qualifying teaching experience with this age group (preferred//required for high end of pay scale)
• Demonstrated ability to work with children
• Responsible and able to take direction and to follow through
• Willingness to be trained/educated in Montessori philosophy

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assists teacher during class time by redirecting children to work and aiding children who need help
• Assist children in the bathroom as needed
• Maintains order and cleanliness of environment daily
• Assists in the cleaning, preparation, and maintenance of classrooms as needed and during inservice days
• Supervises children on the playground
• Provides direct instruction and/or remedial help as directed by the lead guide
• Helps children to work cooperatively in an atmosphere of respect, using models of behavior and intervention demonstrated by the lead guide or Head of School
• Helps teacher to make materials and plan activities
• Substitutes for teacher in cases of illness or absence
• Reports accidents and concerns immediately to the lead guide or person in charge
• Works with teacher to learn about philosophy of Montessori to further understand the goals of the class and the school
• Attends occasional evening or weekend events
• Supports documentation as required and requested

Compensation: $18- $20/hour + one time bonus after 90 days

Medical/Dental/PTO/Vacation/Life/EAP/Holiday after 30 days (total of 4 weeks vacation (preplanned) plus 12 paid holidays and up to 80 hours of earned PTO/sick leave)
