MRI Technologist Job at A-Team Solutions
A-Team Solutions is seeking four (4) MRI technologists for full-time contract positions at the Phoenix VA Medical Center. Shifts are Monday – Friday: 4am – 2pm or 2pm – 12am; Saturday – Sunday: 8am – 6pm.
Must be (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) ARRT(R)(MRI) certified.
MRI technologists will provide high quality diagnostic examinations during and after regular duty hours for all Emergency Department and Inpatient MRI examinations. The scope of the work of services to be performed through this contract consist of MRI examinations of head, spine, abdomen, and extremities among others.
DUTIES:
Examinations in the scope of practice of each contacted technologist.
Prepare room, equipment and material needed for patient procedures.
Prepares injectable contrast and other chemical mixtures as necessary.
Administer contrast material, under the direction of the radiologist or other physician, according to protocols. Follows prescribed protocols required to perform procedures.
Is aware of safety issues related to radiation and the injection of contrast materials.
Incumbent performs safely screening, observes patients during procedures and reports complications or unusual events.
Manages inventory control to ensure adequate quantities of supplies are available to meet the workload demands.
Must be able to work independently and have knowledge of HIPAA compliance.
Shall perform examinations, upload images to commercial PACS system, and send images (if no Radiologist on staff and necessary for emergencies) to the National Teleradiology Program (NTP) for immediate evaluation. Urgent or unexpected findings require a phone conversation with the requesting physician or their representative.
Helps to coordinate new product evaluation and recommends methods and products to reduce costs and/ or improve quality.
Works new or with cross-training technologists, students, residents in computed tomography and associated special procedures.
Maintain a clean work area and adequate level of supplies within their assigned rooms at all times and reports equipment problems to the supervisor immediately.
Practices hospital safety, radiation safety, infection control and universal precautions at all times in
accordance departmental and hospital procedures.
The MRI Tech may be cross-trained in special procedures to maximize the utilization or personnel. Continually reviews new developments in the respective modalities.
Is continually alert to improve quality of exams utilizing the new technologies available.
May be required to perform diagnostic radiology procedures when workload warrants.
Completes Mandatory training to maintain licensure and meet the Medical Center education requirements, to include maintaining a current certification in basic Life Support.
Contract personnel shall provide compassionate care with respect for the special needs of theveteran population served.
Contract personnel shall personify the VA’s core values of trust, respect, excellence, compassion and commitment, and will incorporate a philosophy of organizational stewardship, i.e.; utilizing the
VAMC approved formulary, coordinating safe alternatives to inpatient admission when clinically appropriate and when such alternatives are available, and seeking consultative and follow-up care for patients within the VA system-of-care when that care is available.
Contract personnel shall adhere to the Department of Veterans Affairs regulations,policies, and procedures relating to accreditation, public relations, quality assurance and improvement, personnel management and medico-legal issues
MRI technicians(s) shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government’s requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
MRI technician(s) shall provide compassionate care with respect for the special needsof the veteran population served.
MRI technician(s) registered or certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technology in MRI shall continue to meet the minimum standards for CME to remain current.
The duties of the MRI technician(s) are as appropriate, within their scopes of practice.
The MRI technician(s) knows and understands the principles of MRI and the highly specialized equipment well enough to essentially approve the acceptability or rejectability of each scan.
Receives and identifies patients, explains methods of procedures, assist movement of patients to and from wheelchairs, carts and tables, positions the patient and performs examinations requested.
The incumbent performs MRI studies, records as well as prepares the contrast media for interpretation by Staff Radiologist.
The MRI technician prepares patient for exams and explains procedures to patient while performing the studies
The MRI technician(s) obtains pertinent diagnostic examinations for the physician, which may be necessary for correlation between the MRI scan and the clinical history.
The MRI technician differentiates artifacts from normal or pathological processes and recognizes electronic equipment limitations.
MRI technician has knowledge of JCAHO and other regulatory requirements. The MRI technician must communicate effectively and professionally with employees at varying grade levels.
The MRI technician will perform other duties as assigned
The MRI technologists might be asked to perform diagnostic x-ray as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
· Education: Graduation from an applicable program.
· Certifications: be (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) ARRT(R)(MRI) certified.
· BLS certification through American Heart Association
· Experience: Minimum twelve months experience
· References: Minimum of 3 professional references
