The Network Engineer II performs services to enable all aspects of the network to include maintenance, sustainment of existing networks, and identification/correction of complex internetwork issues.
Essential Job Functions:- Facilitate the evaluation, design, and implementation of secure, high-speed, scalable, fault-tolerant network topologies as applicable to CAN and LAN designs.
- Participate in network solution review processes and conduct prototyping, integration, testing and certification of solutions in a lab environment.
- Draft technical requirements, engineering documents, configuration documents, training manuals and troubleshooting processes, updating as needed.
- Work with System engineers, customers, and cross organizational teams to refine requirements.
- Perform Tier-3 engineering NOC support to investigate, troubleshoot, and restore any customer services outage or fault.
- Due to the nature of this position and the information that employees will be required to access; U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Eight (8) years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity are required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional network engineering experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
- TS/SCI with Poly clearance required.
- Certifications: An IAT level II baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.01-M is required. CCNP, or equivalent, certification or higher required. Both certifications are required for this position.
Desired/Preferred Skills:
- Possess effective communication skills, as well as excellent teaming skills and a positive, customer-focused attitude.
- Possess a strong working knowledge and understanding of network protocols and technologies, to include QoS, MPLS, VLAN, VPN, VRF, VSS, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and other dynamic protocols.
- Serve as a role model to less experienced personnel.
- Must be available to work some 8 hour shift between the hours of 6am-6pm, as determined by management.
- Experience with installation and configuration of any levels of network devices, such as firewalls, switches, routers, cabling, Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper devices is a plus.
Working Conditions:
Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are normally set from Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. Additional details on the precise hours will be given to the candidate from the Program Manager/Hiring Manager.
Physical Requirements:
May be required to lift and carry items weighting up to 50 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
Background Screening/Check/Investigation:
Successful Completion of a Background Screening/Check/Investigation will be required as a condition of hire.
