Summit Home Care is hiring for a dedicated Full Time Occupational Therapist to join our growing team in our division for the Dayton and surrounding areas. As an Occupational Therapist, you will operate under the supervision of the Clinical Management Team while providing direct care to patients in the at-home care setting.

Position: Occupational Therapist Hours / Shift Schedule – Full Time Basis

Benefits – 401K Program - After 6 months, Summit Home Care will match 4% if the employee contributes 5% or above.

EDUCATION - The minimum level of education desired for candidates in this position is an OT License.

Skill Set Desired:

· Ability to build rapport with in-home patients

· Be able to work in a fast-paced environment

· Coordination and Creativity - Develop tactics and tools that will allow you to modify or adapt a client’s environment for positive results.

· Emotional Stability, Empathy Skills

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Experience with Kinnser EMR Software

  • Familiarity with ADLs evaluation tools (e.g. Katz ADL scale, Lawton IADL scale)

· Flexibility, Multi-tasker, Prioritizer

· Physical Strength - Ability to handle physical workload

· Positive and patient demeanor

· Previous experience in OT preferred

· Professional Behaviors and Work Ethic - An OT is in a client-first occupation. Core values include integrity, punctuality, a positive work attitude, collaboration, and the capacity to work with persons of diverse ages and backgrounds.

· Sensory Acuity - Occupational therapy assistants need to be keen observers. Good eyesight (with glasses or contacts) helps future OTs interpret a client’s facial expressions, muscular tension, manual dexterity, etc. A good sense of hearing and the ability for active listening are also essential. Engaging with others will provide you with the feedback necessary to complete or modify therapies for progress toward a client’s goals.

· Spatial reasoning (understanding cause and effect) and a talent for creativity are also key for OTs.

· Strong leadership qualities - Team Player

· Willingness to Travel to Patients’ homes

Responsibilities:

· Supervising Occupational Therapy Assistants as needed
Providing interventions and therapeutic treatment in accordance with the care plan
Selecting and teaching task-oriented therapeutic activities designed to restore physical function and sensory-integrative function
Teaching compensatory techniques to improve the level of patient independence

· Advising and consulting with the family and/or other caregivers
Communicating with other members of the interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary team

o Guide and educate family members and caregivers

· Preparing and submitting timely, legible, relevant, and sufficient documentation

o Participating in quality and performance improvement measures

o Participating in in-services or training, as requested

· Address client’s aspects of performance to support health, well-being, and life quality

· Assessing changes in the patient’s status since the last visit/treatment day

· Completing initial and ongoing comprehensive assessments in client’s homes and SNF’s

· Current knowledge of treatment practices per discipline and drive to continually learn and grow in the profession

· Designing, fabricating, and fitting self-help devices- Recommend adaptive equipment and train in its use

· Observe, note, and report on the progress of long and short-term treatment goals

· Participating in in-services or training, quality and performance improvement measures

· Preparing and submitting timely, legible, relevant, and sufficient documentation

· Providing interventions and therapeutic treatment in accordance with the care plan

· Selecting and teaching task-oriented therapeutic activities designed to restore physical function and sensory-integrative function

· Teach clients new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components

· Teaching compensatory techniques to improve the level of patient independence
