Job Summary
The Criminal Background Check Program (CBC) is a state agency under the Health Related Licensing Boards dedicated to processing state and federal background checks for all licensees. This position exists to provide program functions related to record-keeping, organizational support and other services to the CBC and its participating boards and is conducted while maintaining strict adherence to confidentiality requirements. The position’s responsibilities are:
- Process incoming mail, sorting by board and background check process.
- Send email update to applicants.
- Process application materials in a timely manner, entering them into the appropriate database, verifying document accuracy, and seeking clarification from applicants as needed. Maintain complete and accurate records for all applicants.
- Perform data entry, scan documents, and deliver criminal history reports to participating boards.
- Identifying issues or problems with received paperwork and fingerprint cards. Work with other staff to resolve identified issues with applicant paperwork.
- Perform daily and monthly tasks to keep the filing system accessible and well organized.
- Provide outstanding customer service to Board clientele in person, over the phone, or written correspondence.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of English sufficient to perform the job duties described above, using reading, writing and speaking skills.
- Knowledge of current data entry procedures.
- Data entry skills sufficient to read source documents and enter data into specific data fields.
- Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through e-mail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience with a variety of workplace equipment such as computers, printers, and scanners.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Attention to detail.
- Advanced computer skills including user experience in a variety of environments.
- Familiarity with basic office computing terms and functions.

- Ability to quickly and thoroughly assess information and make logical conclusions.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize workflow in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow specific protocols.
Additional Requirements
This position requires a successful completion of reference checks and fingerprint-based criminal background check prior to employment. A successful candidate will be required to complete the CJIS Security Awareness Testing and Training on their first day of employment.
