Operation Key Account Manager (OKAM) Job at Blue Water Shipping
Position Summary
The Operation Key Account Manager (OKAM) will play a vital role in ensuring the business relationship with Holland America Group (HAG) and Blue Water Shipping (BWS) is working seamless and to everyone’s satisfaction.
The Operation Key Account Manager will be the daily link between HAG, the Warehouse manager in Fort Lauderdale as well as other operational leads as the business scope grows with HAG.
The Operation Key Account Manager’s primary task is to monitor the operational performance and quality delivered to HAG, by setting up efficient and tailored KPI processes and reports. If any discrepancy is detected, the task will be to mitigate the issue as well as ensure this does not happen again.
The Operation Key Account Manager needs to be well acquainted with the Scope of work agreed with the client and identify any out of scope services performed and new opportunities. Once out of scope and new opportunities are identified the Director will provide a suggestion on how to proceed, analyze the opportunity and propose to the commercially responsible person; the Regional VP, Marine Logistics.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Warehouse Manager in Fort Lauderdale to ensure the warehouse performance is at the expected performance level by defined External and Internal KPI’s
- Collaborate with Operational Managers in Miami to ensure the transportation services are conducted as per the required service expectation
- Support and collaborate with the Regional VP for Marine Logistics Americas commercially to ensure the longevity of the partnership
- Identify risk and create plans and actions to mitigate those risk and operational service issues
- Build relations to all relevant stakeholders with the client, the Fort Lauderdale location staff as well as key persons from various Blue Water Locations.
- Ensure Operational procedures are in place to deliver highest level of service and quality in the most efficient way
- Ensure SOP’s are well documented, lean and implemented.
- Review and enhance existing operational processes and procedures.
- Prepare and attend operational QBR in collaboration with Regional VP
- Identify the competitive service strengths and weaknesses of the and provide recommendations to improve the business
- Engage in service delivery issues, making recommendations to operating management
- Participate in industry related trade shows and seminars in the US
- Assist the Operations Managers with challenges, finding solutions to high priority shipments etc.
- Focus on team development and maintain team spirit in all aspects of the business
- Encourage and create the conditions for a good working climate
- Give and receive honest and constructive feedback
- Ensure that the team is working together towards a shared goal according to Blue Water’s strategy, business goals and culture
- Implement Blue Water’s culture, values and strategy across all work
- Assist team members as needed and set an example for others
- Stay informed on the business and industry
- Follow set goals and tactical plans from the Business Unit leadership
- Act safely at all times to ensure your own welfare and that of your fellow employees on the basis of the defined health & safety targets
- Focus on continuously reducing Blue Water's environmental impact on the basis of the defined environmental targets
- Communicate key figures to your immediate manager and agree on adjustments
- Create and Provide economic and monthly report to your immediate Manager
- Ensure that the office works efficiently with the IT tools and the set procedures
- Identify stakeholder talents and challenge, explore and develop everyone’s potential
- Relay all relevant information to your stakeholders
Position Requirements
- 5-10 years of KAM experience in the logistics/supply-chain industry
- Strong logistics, supply chain and forwarding operational background
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite including Excel and PowerPoint
- Comfortable managing complex spreadsheets
- Experience working in a KPI-driven setting
- High attention to detail
- Ability to face challenges and provide solutions in line with company policy
- Capable of adjusting your communication style to respectfully communicate with different types of personalities – towards customers, business connections, employees and colleagues
- Knowledge of economic key figures and be able to work with customer-focused budgets
- Strong customer focus with the ability to effectively communicate with customers and meet their needs
- Ability to take team members’ suggestions to improve departmental procedures
