POSITION OVERVIEW
The Sorenson Impact Center’s Impact Investing team is seeking an organized, self-starting professional to help the team execute its many responsibilities. The investing team manages venture capital funds and a large student internship program. The Operations Associate will provide operational support across the team’s many responsibilities. The position is responsible for coordination and supervision of the student internship program including internship recruitment and training, job placement support, alumni engagement, and event planning, as well as supporting other responsibilities of the team. This role acts as a liaison between the investing team, the operations team, and other stakeholders at the Sorenson Impact Center and the University of Utah.

Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Alumni engagement: track job placements and professional achievements, outreach to involve
alums in our program (speaking opportunities, mentoring, etc.), planning and executing alumni
events
  • Placement support: Liaise with career center to identify hiring employers, engage with employers
who may be interested in our students (speaking engagements, mentoring, etc.), seek out and
build relationships with potential employers
  • Student events: Support all student events (investing and non-investing), liaise with other funds
and student programs on coordinated events, liaise with SIC regarding center-wide events
  • Student support: Onboarding/offboarding student analysts, initiate and track performance
reviews and promotion considerations, handle awards and swag for achievements
  • Training: Oversee and help execute training courses for internal and external stakeholders,
communicate expectations and deliver pre work materials, coordinate locations and other
training needs.
  • Recruiting support: Initiate and maintain relationships with various stakeholders on and off
campus, oversee creation and distribution of publicity materials and word of mouth, present to
students groups regarding the value of our program, manage the hiring process,
  • SIC liaison: Coordinate with SIC operations team regarding Center-wide needs
  • Investing support: Assist the team in communicating with founders, current and potential LPs,
co-investors, etc.
  • Program support: track key-performance-indicators over time
  • Other tasks as required by SIC and the Impact Investing team.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires an associate’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with relational database concepts, and client-server concepts.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences
Strong preference for direct experience supporting an investing team or a student internship program. Moderate preference for supporting a team in a fast pace, demanding environment.
