Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems is seeking an Operations Manager Site II position to provide leadership support to our Case Value Stream team at our Freeport Center Facility in Clearfield, Utah.
Role description & Responsibilities:
This position has direct leadership responsibility over Building H10 Rocket Motor Case fabrication utilizing people, equipment, tooling, and facilities to ensure safety, quality, delivery, employee development and cost objectives are met.
This includes the following:
Oversee the day-to-day production activities which are accomplished through subordinates (Shift Managers, Operation Team Supervisors and Operators).
Works with Value Stream Element Team (VSET) leads, Engineering, Production Control, Quality, and other internal and external contacts to ensure process readiness, resolve issues real-time and strategically prepare for the future.
Direct development and implementation of continuous improvement objectives within the area to improve safety, reduce costs, assure product quality and to raise moral.
Ensures strong and open relationships with senior leadership, employees, support groups and customers.
Maintains a very high level of equipment uptimes.
Job Duties:
Successful candidate should have excellent interpersonal/leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to work with and satisfy internal and external customers and suppliers was well as a demonstrated commitment to customer service.
Successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Presentation skills and ability to clearly communicate initiatives plans and expectations. Computer skills to include Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Successful candidate should have a demonstrated commitment Northrop Grumman business Code of Ethics, the ability to lead others, build teams, and create an environment of continuous improvement using Lean Mfg. principles.
Successful candidate should have a proven Operation Availability and Overall Equipment Efficiency track record.
Successful candidate will work day shift but must be able to support their crew, when necessary, who work flexible and changing shift schedules; day or night shifts, including weekends if necessary
Experience Preferred:
Manufacturing experience including familiarity with electronic work instructions (preferred), Safety, and Quality procedures and policies.
Root Cause Analysis using multiple methods such as fault trees, Kepner Trego analysis, 5 Why’s, etc.
Verifiable continuous improvement implementation experiences that include problem solving, and leading project teams to improve flow and standardize processes.
Understanding of the “Rules in Use”.
Supervisory/ management experience.
Developing and implementing manufacturing processes using tools like value stream mapping, factory design, digital factory, etc.
Knowledge of and experience with Rocket Motor Case fabrication (preferred).
Working with support group personnel, (VSET teams, Maintenance, Safety, Engineering, Production Planning, Quality, etc.).
Successful leadership of work teams to achieve company and department objectives. Project management experience.
Budget management and understanding of earned value management principles.
Education/Certifications:
BS/BA degree in Business or Technical field and 9 years related experience. (preferred)
Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requiring 13 years related experience.
