Operations Manager - Maintenance Division

Downer Brothers Landscaping, Inc. is a full service landscaping company looking for a passionate, hard working, Operations Manager for our construction division. The Operations Manager is tasked with managing the essential business triad — happy customers, happy crews, and happy business. This means ensuring work is completed according to customer goals, work is organized in a manner that sets the crew up for success, and work is accountable to the company budget and metrics. This role reports to the CEO.

Construction, duties include the following:

  • Daily scheduling of services with support from our Scheduling Coordinator
  • Hiring of divisional staff
  • Training and implementation of SOPs to ensure standards are met
  • Provides input for estimating and upsells for divisional services
  • Create detailed work orders for divisional crews
  • Quality control - ensure quality meets company standards to eliminate punch lists
  • Working in the field to train employees and meet scheduling targets
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving for efficient divisional operation
  • Maintain positive customer relationships
  • Establishes and maintains timelines for project completion and tracks progress toward goals
  • Responsible for procurement of materials for division, re-stocking of inventoried materials and maintaining orderly and efficient shop and yard

Snow & Ice, duties include the following:

  • Screening/hiring snow and ice staff
  • Storm-related call outs for sites managed
  • Running storm operations for sites managed
  • Site inspections for quality control
  • Site planning for efficient operations
  • Plowing, salting, post storm clean up
  • Paperwork compliance for sites managed

Requirements:

  • Passion for the industry and working outside
  • Minimum 5 years hardscape experience - natural stone walls, block walls, patios, and walks in both natural stone and pavers
  • Minimum 5 years softscape experience - planting, lawn installs, grading, and drainage
  • Minimum 3 years foreman experience, managing crews, or project management
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to project manage multiple job sites at once
  • Ability to read plans and construction documents and layout jobs in field
  • Organizational skills

  • Estimating (training will be provided, exposure and experience a plus)
  • Basic plant, turf, irrigation knowledge (knowledge of low voltage landscape lighting repair and installation a plus)
  • Machine experience
  • Valid Drivers License (CDL A or B license, hoisting license a bonus)
