We are seeking a responsible and energetic individual with a passion for serving families experiencing homelessness. The Outreach Manager supervises specialized program coordination in the Outreach program, including our Popsicle Place, Women’s Day Center, and Allen Family Center programs. The Outreach Manager works individually with families and specialists/coordinators to identify safe alternatives to unsheltered homelessness by assisting in navigating resources, shelter access, relocation, and/or finding permanent housing.

This is a full-time, exempt position with a weekday, daytime schedule requiring extended hours to meet all requirements. Occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required. The Outreach Manager position will require travel to supervise staff working in the community, and with office hours at a South Seattle location. This position will be based at the Allen Family Center (80%) and Outreach (20%) across our Mary’s Place sites. The starting salary for this position is $70,000-$73,000/DOE,

Outreach Manager position reports to the Outreach & Diversion Director. The Outreach Manager supervises: Popsicle Place Outreach Coordinators, Allen Family Center Administrative Coordinator, and the Outreach Coordinator - Women's Day Center.


Key Responsibilities

  • Management over the Allen Family Center and it’s collaborative partnerships. The Allen Family Center is a community center for families experiencing homelessness and housing instability located in the Mt. Baker neighborhood of Seattle.
  • Responsible for supervising staff including check-ins and providing ongoing feedback, support and performance management, and for managing the specialist staffing schedule to ensure coverage for services 7 days/week
  • Develop and maintain accurate data procedures, and train staff to accurately use these data procedures
  • Complete monthly and quarterly data and narrative reports on program performance
  • Maintain accurate and confidential guest records and electronic files in required database systems
  • Maintain accurate and timely statistics and documentation to meet program goals and contractual requirements
  • Work in partnership with outreach coordinators to connect with unsheltered families and partner providers in need of outreach services
  • Maintain and establish partnerships with providers at the Allen Family Center and in the larger King County regional community
  • Embrace Housing First principles and implement programming that promotes those principals
  • Assist families to creatively identify solutions and alternate housing arrangements that quickly resolve their housing crisis. Provide resource referral and follow-up assistance to families experiencing unsheltered homelessness
  • Conduct a needs assessment with each family and work to create an individualized service plan based on identified goals
  • Review and actively monitor families in making progress toward meeting identified goals
  • Travel throughout King County to meet with clients where they are residing
  • Act as a liaison between families, support services, landlords, and involved community agencies and maintain ongoing communication with other providers as needed
  • Maintain an effective and responsive process of referral to outreach specialist caseloads
  • Assure that clients and volunteers are treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnic background, gender or socioeconomic background
  • Adhere to staff guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:

Skills/Qualifications Required

  • College degree in social services or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience
  • Experience working in a shelter setting or with homeless population strongly desired
  • Ability to work with people who may have substance use disorders, untreated mental health issues, and significant trauma with a compassionate and trauma-informed approach
  • Sensitivity to the needs of clients who are experiencing homelessness, low income, limited English speaking, or impacted by domestic violence, substance abuse or other barriers to employment
  • Commitment to diversity and ability to work well with diverse family styles and multi-ethnic populations
  • Ability to set appropriate boundaries and maintain calm demeanor in a chaotic setting
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Basic knowledge of Housing First principles
  • Demonstrated problem solving, conflict mediation, and crisis management skills
  • Ability to manage agency funds with discretion and accuracy
  • Access to reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and vehicle insurance that meets Washington State’s minimum guidelines, and the ability and willingness to travel throughout King County daily
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends in response to family needs
  • Willingness and ability to work with people from a variety of racial, cultural, social and economic backgrounds with various lifestyles, sexual orientations, and of all ages and genders
  • Attention to detail, interacting with others in-person and through email, using critical thinking skills to strategize, develop and implement business plans, create and edit documents, listen and participate verbally at meetings.

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, type, and reach with hands and arms; and requires the ability to occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry supplies up to 25 pounds
  • Work takes place in a social services environment where long periods of sitting, working on a computer, walking to various work areas, going up and down stairs, and standing are required
  • Travel to program sites and meetings outside the office and around the county are necessary
  • Ability to work in an environment where there may be animals present, including dogs
