JOB DESCRIPTION
Milk Street Cafe is a family owned and operated cafe and catering company who is in the process of growing. We are currently looking for an overnight baker to join our production team.
The overnight Baker is responsible for producing all baked goods including naturally leavened breads, croissants, cookies, muffins, and scones. They prepare all breads and pastries in accordance with Milk Street recipes and standards. This is a Sunday through Thursday schedule from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Minimum of 3 years baking/pastry experience in a professional setting
- Overnight work availability, including holidays
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Ability to proof and bake croissants, Danish and other breakfast pastries
- Working with the Head Chef and the Pastry Chef on new bread recipes
- Authorized to work in the United States (We use E-Verify)
- Clean and safe work habits
- Knowledge of proper food safety (Serve-Safe certification a plus)
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
DUTIES
- Prepares bread, focaccia, rolls and other bread items for Milk Street catering and retail operations
- Follows proper proofing and baking techniques for each variety of bread
- Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant
- Maintains a clean and sanitary food production area according to Department of Health standards
- Assists catering department in catering production
- Restock all items as needed throughout shift
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested by the Executive Chef, Executive Pastry Chef, or Sous Chef.
