Job Description:

Sentry Construction is looking for a Painter who will be responsible for painting multiple facilities. Responsible for mixing paints, matching colors, preparing surfaces, and applying paint to these surfaces. May perform touch-ups or coordinate large painting projects related to the construction industry.

• Preparing painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes and cracks, or removing old paint
• Filling cracks, holes, or joins with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives
• Smoothing surfaces using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines
• Mixing, matching, and applying paints and other finishes to equipment, buildings, or other structures using brushes, spray guns, or rollers
• Applying primers/ sealers to prepare new surfaces for finish coats
• Handling planning and prep work in an efficient manner
• Receiving instructions from supervisors or management to determine work requirements
• Covering surfaces or areas with dropcloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces while painting
• Moving furniture and equipment as necessary to reach the entire surface of the project
• Calculating the amount of materials and time required for said project
• Removing fixtures such as door knobs and light switch covers
• Choosing and purchasing appropriate paint, brushes, and other supplies from vendors
• Cleaning up supplies and replacing fixtures when project is complete
• Erecting scaffolding, swing gates, or setting up ladders to work above ground level
• Adhering to all quality and safety standards
• Other duties assigned as they relate to the Painter position and business mission

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED Certification Required
• Attention to detail and understanding of Color Theory and Various Finish Types
• Physical stamina to perform tasks
• 5 years industry related commercial or industrial experience preferred
• Occasional travel required
• Ability to Climb Ladders or scaffolding
• Ability to Carry Heavy Equipment (Including Painting Tools and Heavy Buckets of Paint)
• Ability to Stand for Long Periods of Time
• Excellent Communication Skills
• Good Customer Service Skills
• Strong Ability to Follow Directions
• Experienced in other maintenance or skilled trade a plus! Equal Opportunity
