SUMMARY:

MV Ventures is seeking a highly organized and experienced paralegal to support the MV Ventures legal team by providing legal and project support in a highly dynamic environment.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under supervision of an attorney, draft and revise a variety of contracts, forms, and other documents, including organizational documents, event and operations agreements, sponsorship agreements, rental agreements, lease abstracts, vendor agreements, and general correspondence.
  • Take leadership role in maintaining and updating legal document database, corporate records, departmental records, general filing, etc.
  • Develop and implement efficient processes and best practices.
  • Develop and update project management tracking spreadsheets and calendar deadlines.
  • Create and maintain closing checklists and closing books.
  • Complete required filings.
  • Serve as liaison between the MV Ventures legal department and other departments pertaining to execution of legal projects and implementation of contract requirements, including scheduling of payments with the finance department.
  • Identify and escalate complex issues, current and potential, to General Counsel for direction and/or handling.
  • Maintain professional level of communication with internal and external contacts, while exercising discretion with confidential information.
  • Assist with communications to tenants, vendors, and management, including sending and tracking of signatures pages, insurance certificates, and other deliverables.
  • Gather information and conduct initial research on requested subjects.
  • Assist with the management of claims in collaboration with General Counsel and outside counsel.
  • Provide support to General Counsel on litigation matters, including document production and review.
  • Perform all other special projects as assigned.
  • Occasional availability to work overtime, evenings, and weekends to meet business needs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal language and identify issues.
  • Superior organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and thoroughness in document generation and proofreading.
  • Adept in management of multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities.
  • Advanced proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for document generation, including legal formatting/redlining, tables, and figures.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with appropriate sensitivity and discretion.
  • Ability to perform project management and organizational tasks.
  • Ability to work timely and effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with ability to exercise good judgment and interact professionally with individuals at all levels within and outside the organization.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • Associate’s degree in paralegal or legal studies from an accredited degree program.
  • Paralegal Certification from ABA-approved program.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience working as paralegal.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE BEYOND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience as an in-house paralegal in a corporate law department or mid-size law firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 30 lbs. Will be seated during majority of workday, though will be on your feet and mobile for extended periods depending on job duty.
  • Regularly performs computer work and operates office equipment.

SCHEDULE:
This position is expected to work within core business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and may occasionally require participation in after-hours work.
