Jamison Professional Services, Inc. (“Jamison”) is currently seeking a qualified and motivated candidate for the position of Paralegal/Legal Assistant.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES:
The mission of the United States Attorneys is to serve as the nation's principal litigators under the direction of the Attorney General. There are 93 United States Attorneys stationed throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands. Each United States Attorney is the chief federal law enforcement officer of the United States within his or her particular jurisdiction. United States Attorneys conduct most of the trial work in which the United States is a party.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performing legal research and drafting documents in support of Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) work with direction from assigned attorneys.
  • Researching and analyzing case law, statutes, legislative intent, judicial precedents, etc., as they relate to assigned cases.
  • Using a variety of automated legal research tools including Westlaw, West Next, and Lexis, as well as public information databases and other automated resources.
  • Assisting with managing discovery to include assisting with responding to propounded discovery including assembling documents responsive to discovery at the direction of attorneys assigned to cases.
  • Assisting in reviewing and evaluating referrals and planning a comprehensive approach to obtain additional information and evidence.
  • Assisting in drafting and issuing subpoenas and civil investigatory demands.
  • Drafting legal documents and correspondence for attorney’s review and signature.
  • Assisting in pretrial preparations by preparing, scheduling, reviewing, and organizing the assembly of evidence, exhibits, discovery, and other documents including voluminous records in both electronic and physical form.
  • Supporting attorneys in court proceedings by briefing attorneys on pertinent facts, issues, and case law, and by compiling, organizing, and indexing exhibits.
  • Organizing documents for efficient automated storage and retrieval by scanning documents, preparing appropriate indices, defining data file search criteria, etc.
  • Assisting in the preparation of computerized pretrial, trial and general office presentations by using a variety of computer hardware such as printers, plotters, audio-visual devices, and other state-of-the-art equipment and litigation
  • support programs such as Sanction, Concordance, PowerPoint, CaseMap, TimeMap, Access, Excel, Microsoft Word for word processing and MS Outlook.
  • Assisting AUSAs with presentations for use in courtrooms, grand jury sessions and general office presentations. Also, may include the preparation of photograph boards, maps, charts and other demonstrative exhibits required for litigation.

REQUIRED AND DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
At a minimum, the candidate must have:
  • Associates Degree. Area of Paralegal Studies is preferred;
  • Three (3) years of paralegal experience;
  • Proficiency in Sanction, Concordance, PowerPoint, CaseMap, TimeMap, Access, Excel, Microsoft Word for word processing, and MS Outlook
  • Ability to demonstrate skills needed to review a wide variety of documents, both legal and non-legal documents, including motions and briefs, and a variety of legal correspondence.
  • Proficiency with office technology, including but not limited to computers, fax machines, and copier machines
  • Proficiency in organizational skills and the ability to multitask assignments
  • A U.S. Citizenship.
  • Contractor Security Clearances – All contractor personnel shall successfully pass a minimum background investigation with sensitivity Level 2 and complete an SF86 prior to starting work on-site.

HOURS OF OPERATION
The contractor will follow a standard five-day, 40-hour work week schedule. The normal working hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, Central Standard Time.

Clearance Level Required: Must be able to pass a Federal Background check.
