General Description of Position:
This position supports the Fine Arts Program chair through oversight and administrative support of gallery and exhibition programs.

Major Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities are related to the exhibition program in the Gallery at The Julia M. Carson Learning Resource Center.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Installation
Create labels and other didactic materials as needed.
Repair and paint gallery hardware as needed.
Assist in the setup and tear-down of exhibits and displays.
As required, assist with preparation and tear-down of receptions for exhibitions.
Create virtual exhibitions for all internal and external shows.
Ideation:
Plan exhibitions including titles and themes of exhibitions
Create and maintain a calendar of exhibitions (internal and external) 12-15 months in advance.
Prepare calls for entries and other student exhibition paperwork as needed.
Marketing and Promotion:
Maintain exhibition mailing list.
Design, create and distribute promotional, marketing, and exhibition opportunities as needed.
Create virtual exhibitions for all internal and external shows.
Other:
Maintain inventory of building materials, tools/equipment and exhibit consumables, and order supplies as needed after approval by Program Chair.
Order other supplies and consumables as approved by the Program Chair.
Assist with Fine Arts programs and projects as needed.
Customer Service Expectation
Provide a friendly, inviting atmosphere in the gallery and reception areas.
Maintain a schedule of open gallery hours.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Observe safety and risk management procedures in public areas and
workspaces.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration, Studio Arts or Art History
Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad
diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every
individual feels respected and valued.
The Gallery Manager has working knowledge of basic math, the ability to work
independently, demonstrated attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to stand, walk,
and sit. The Gallery and Studio Assistant Must:
Be able to climb a ladder
Sustain extended periods of walking and moderate physical activity
Use hands to feel and manipulate tools and materials, and reach with
hands and arms
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
