Partner Technical Specialist - Territory Job at IBM
As a Partner Technical Specialist (Territory) your mission is to connect the right technical, co-marketing, and go-to-market enablement resources with your assigned partners to jointly drive prospecting, opportunity identification, and solution co-creation.
Engaging directly with partners and their clients in support of high value engagements and opportunities, you will augment partner and client engagements with IBM's breadth of capabilities to align sales efforts with offering capability roadmaps, and shape solutions that support brand-specific business strategies.

Your Role and Responsibilities
Partner Technical Specialists cover a territory where they are technical consultants to clients, IBM Sales teams and Business Partners. They understand the client’s business and technical requirements, and competitive landscape. They provide technical sales support which may include:
- Collaborate with IBM Sales teams to define, architect and design server solutions, and feasibility of proposed solutions
- Develop and deliver Proof of Concept, competitive insights; technical presentations and education
- Ensure the technical accuracy of the proposed solution; customization, installation, integration and/or implementation of solutions
- Plan and lead business development activities, qualify and progress opportunities
- Contribute to intellectual assets and maintain technical and professional skills
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients during technical discussions
- Establish relationships with the clients' key technical decision makers and influencers within an opportunity driven model
- Understand the client's technical strategy, challenges and how IBM solutions can help them to be successful in their business
- Responsible for the client's satisfaction with the IBM offerings proposed and delivered
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Deep Unix skills – ideally, a candidate with Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience
- Unix sysadmin skills and has built tools to automate tasks, primarily with the OS and with storage and networks
- Equally important is an advanced knowledge of OpenShift, Power Servers, Intel based servers and VMWare
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Depth and breadth of knowledge regarding the Storage market in order to consult and advise, and quickly grow your reputation as your clients' credible, trusted advisor. (Training on IBM's storage offerings is provided).

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
This position is eligible for participation in an IBM Sales Incentive plan. Actual incentive opportunity will be based on performance and the eligible Target Incentive, as addressed in the applicable plan, all of which is subject to change. The compensation range listed for this position is the IBM Reference Salary that is used when you are not actively participating in a sales plan. Your actual base pay plus incentive opportunity will be determined by the Incentive Plan assigned to you.
