Pastry Cook Job Description

Bread & Batter Bakery is an employee-operated bakery with kitchen locations in both Poughkeepsie and Newburgh, New York. Formerly Newburgh Flour Shop, Bread & Batter Bakery has become known for the highest quality breads, pastries, baked goods, and cakes. We have 5 stars on The Knot and have been named Best of Weddings for the Hudson Valley for the past 3 years.

We are currently seeking a Pastry Cook to join our team.

About the role:

You will be working with our Executive Pastry Chef and Pastry team to assist with pastry production. Duties will include but are not limited to pastry inventory prep for our retail counter, pastry production prep for wholesale and special orders, custom cookie orders, production and finishing special event and wedding cakes.

This role will report to our Executive Pastry Chef.

About you:

You are comfortable working early morning hours as well as weekends and holidays (we are closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day) and possess top-notch communication and organizational skills. You also have a positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to learn and collaborate with your team.

You have:

• At least 1 year of Pastry experience with finishing and large scale production
• Basic knowledge of mixing methods and pastry fundamentals
• Sense of urgency and attention to detail
• Knowledge of cake building and finishing
• Comfortable with reading and executing recipes using grams and ounces, as proper usage of a scale
