The Opportunity: Contribute To The Growth Of Your Career.

The Payroll Accountant is responsible for reconciling and ensuring all US payroll liability G/L accounts are accurately stated for 5 chains, 50 reconciliations, and 79,500,000 in monthly reconciled balances. Duties are on a daily, monthly, quarterly and annual basis, meeting critical deadlines as appropriate. This role is also responsible for independently researching and resolving all reconciliation variances, determining the process for appropriate accounting, which involves navigating through multiple different sources to identify a root cause for a variance and then working directly with their business partners through the issue resolution process.

• Ensure all transactions are accounted for in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Prepare journal entries and accruals to ensure accuracy of the General Ledger
• Prepare accurate and timely account reconciliations (including flux analysis & variance resolution)
• Identify and implement opportunities for operational improvement and efficiency
• Perform Quarterly Sarbanes Oxley testing and review
• Support management with audit requests for internal & external audits
• Assist in other ad hoc projects as assigned.
• Partner cross-functionally across wider finance teams
• Prepare and remit Union and United Way Payments/reporting and serves as the main contact with the 3rd parties
• Daily review of positive pay for potential fraudulent, duplicate, or voided check activity

Who We Are Looking For: You.

• Accounting or related Finance experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Required
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build relationships
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to effectively handle multiple tasks each day and to clearly document findings
• Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment and prioritize effectively
• Strong Decision-Making skills (i.e. ability to decide based on a mixture of analysis, experience, and judgment); ability to make decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines
• Highly motivated self-starter with intellectual curiosity
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
• Advanced Excel skills, Oracle / ERP experience a plus
