What You’ll Do

As a Staff Accountant/Payroll Coordinator, you will play a critical role the day-to-day Accounting and Payroll processes at Uptake. You will perform a variety of duties such as assist the Payroll Manager with processing US and Canadian payrolls. Additionally, perform a variety of accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization’s financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:

Payroll:

  • Handle Time and Attendance data entry for all employees.
  • Process deduction changes which include benefits, garnishments, and 401k.
  • Adhere to current labor laws and regulations and company policies and compliance measures.
  • Troubleshoot and provide solution-driven outcomes as it relates to employee payroll issues.
  • Leverage various systems to maintain accurate payroll information
  • Assist with and ultimately assuming the responsibility of the Canadian payroll processing.
  • Assist Manager in creating a playbook of Standard Operating Procedures

Accounting

Month End Close

  • Assist with month end close (journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting)
  • Bonus Tracking
  • Cash and payroll / benefit reconciliations

Accounts Payable

  • Enter payables (vendor invoices, expense reports) and scanning / filing invoices, requesting W-9s or equivalent
  • Assist Staff with responding to vendor or internal inquiries

Corporate Credit Cards

P-cards

  • Responsible for day-to-day management of Uptake’s P-cards (travel and office)
  • Reconcile and execute office P-card requests and ensuring appropriate approvals are documented
  • Review CC reports weekly and following up with cardholders /admins

T&E

Review expense reports receipts to ensure compliance to policyAssist staff with building integrations from HR systems (ADP / Greenhouse) to Accounting (Intacct / Expensify / Concur)

Travel

  • Manage the travel vendor, direct bill relationships and act as first point of contact for employee travel questions
  • Coordinate with People team to book any travel arrangements (hotels, transportation for high profile interview candidates
  • Update policies, procedures, forms and training materials related to expenses, purchasing/individual credit cards, and/or travel
  • Project management for new updates to travel system in collaboration with Accounting, IT and HR
  • Generate, analyze, and audit travel reports for review by the Accounting department

Miscellaneous & Projects

  • Support staff accountants with (furniture / computers) receiving process
  • Assist staff with projects including implementations, documentation and process improvement
  • Process payroll JEs and maintain GL information in ADP
  • System and process improvements
  • Assist with financial and tax audits

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of Account experience within a payroll environment
  • Advanced level Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills, with an ability to troubleshoot issues
  • Team player who can collaborate and communicate effectively with all levels
  • Understand technical data conversion issues, resolve issues and communicate solutions
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Can work in fast-paced, fast-growth, high-energy environment and deal with multiple high priority activities concurrently
  • Exceptional research skills and resourceful

Preferred:

  • FPC or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) highly desired

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $64,361.13 - $67,728.92 per year
