Job Duties
Western State Hospital is seeking a Full Time Payroll Supervisor to accurately prepare and process the payroll for Western State Hospital and the Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents (CCCA). This position is responsible for performing preparations, calculations and auditing required to ensure that all payroll information for all salaried and wage employees is processed in a timely and accurate manner; ensure that assigned benefit reconciliations, employee earnings on their W-2 are accurate and other fiscal duties are completed within established guidelines; this position may back up the manager in times of absence; and responsible for keeping "open door" policy to assist management and/or all employees in understanding policies and data communications.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience in processing payroll is required; working knowledge of basic accounting principles and general office procedures; skilled in the analysis of fiscal transactions and performance of detailed mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately; ability to work under pressure and interpret policies and regulations, especially those established by FSLA and state guidelines; must be able to perform reconciliations of various accounting systems; must be flexible and able to adapt to a changing environment; must be able to utilize on-line systems, LANS, networks, and software packages such as MS word and Excel in performance of duties
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate Degree in business/accounting or higher or an equivalent combination of related studies in accounting and/or financial systems or experience indicating ability to perform the functions of this position are preferred; knowledge of state payroll policy and procedures; knowledge and experience with Commonwealth of Virginia payroll policy and procedures; experience with large volume payrolls in a hospital setting preferred.
